I’ve created some patches on my Evolver that are controlled by the OT sequencer.
However I still haven’t figured out how to send the CC messages to create parameter locks of the Evolver’s matrix.
I’d like to p-lock the Evolver’s filter cutoff or LFO’s for example.
Let me know if you can help out!

Check the evolver manual for a list of parameters that can be cc controlled (most of them can’t).

http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/downloads/evolver/doc/Evolver_manual_3.2a.pdf

on page 44-45, additional received CCs

are you struggling on the OT or DSI end?

Thanks for the replies.

So the problem is that the evolver isnt recieving any of the CC changes i’m making from the OT.
The sequencer is controlling the evolver just fine appart from the CC pages that don’t seem to affect it at all.
Its strange because program change works fine when i change banks and launch a pattern that uses a different preset on the synth.

If anyone figured out how i can get the CC pages to work with the Evolver i’d love to hear the solution! Thanks

I had mine working quite nicely. It’s pretty quick (i.e. responsive) once you’ve got it set up. at the risk of being insulting, have you definitely enabled the various CC knobs (function + encoder clikc to enable) and have CC input filter open on the Evolver ? It sounds likely that you’ve just missed a setting somewhere.
There’s also a requirement to enable the necessary midi pages on the Octatrack settings
I have unticked ‘Audio CC in’ and ‘Audio CC out’ as I have no desire to control any aspect of the Octatrack from another device.

I have also set all of the Trig channel midi channel to ‘Off’ for the same reason. I have set the Auto channel to 4. I have set the Prg Change ‘Send’ channel to auto (so that it send all program changes to my Evolver via channel 4.)

I have also disabled ‘cc direct connect’ as I would rather manually map CC numbers than set up a loop and the added complication this brings.

Sorted!
Don’t know what it was but today everything worked harmoniously.
Thanks for the tips!

Sorry to open this old thread.
I just got my OT a few days ago and I’m trying to wrap my head around this monster. I’m trying to do some program and bank changes on my Evolver and the weird thing is that it does change my program, but it doesn’t do a bank change…
Can somebody help me out?

How does your NOTE SETUP page appear on the OT’s MIDI sequencer?

What values are you sending from the OT?

Do you have any gear to monitor the MIDI messages that are sent from the OT?

Which Evolver are you using? Which version of its firmware?

What setting do you have on the Evolver for ‘MIDI Receive’?

Apparently I’ve got it working. The Evolver is only receiving lsb for it’s bank changes instead of msb messages the OT is sending by default.

I’m sending a bank change message by putting a trigless trig locked on the first step of a pattern. I locked it to MIDI cc#32. Values 0 through 3 are where the Evolver receives it’s bank changes. So locking the first step with one of these values works for me.

I tried this trick also for my KSrack but it doesnt work flawless here. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t work.

OT:

My MIDI sequencer has cc direct enabled

MIDI control Audio cc in is disabled
MIDI control Audio note in is disabled
MIDI control Audio cc out and note out are int+ext

MIDI sync sends transp, clock and prog change on channel 1 (global channel that is)

Evolver:

It’s a desktop Evolver with the latest firmware
MIDI is received on the same MIDI channel the OT is sending
