I got you buddy. I think (quite new to this as well)

  • press func edit with rec mode disabled to get to pattern options
  • enable independent track length
  • go to track 6, set it to the length you want, if you need more than 64 steps make it 1/2 or 1/4 speed
  • important: make sure your master track length is 64, or 128 if you halved track 6’s speed. Otherwise it’ll reset after 16 beats regardless of your T6 length
  • make sure your recorders are dynamic so you get more than 16 or whatever seconds
  • drop a one shot recording trig (func+trig when in recording view) on the first step of track 6 (or wherever you want to start recording)
  • make sure recording length is set to max in the record setup menu
  • you can arm or disarm this trig by holding the track 6 button and pressing yes/no. if armed, as soon as the track passes it it’ll start recording and keep recording until it hits a playback trig or runs out of memory.

Now that I think about it you could probably omit all the track length steps if you don’t intend to immediately play back what you’ve recorded. Remember that the buffers will get wiped if you turn off or overwrite them so save the file if it’s a keeper.

Sheesh, this seems like a lot of steps but it only takes a few seconds to set up once you know exactly what you need to do and why!
