Hallo
I’m new to the Octatrack so please forgive the naive questions!
Is there anyway to resample huge chunks of audio/beats with crossfader movements internally?
I can only seem to do it for 1 trigger step (ie 2.5 seconds)
Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers

Either set your steps to something greater than 16 or also set Dynamic Recorder to YES -
both explained in the manual
great, will investigate, thanks.
Also read about the RLEN setting in the RECORDING SETUP 1 menu; see page 51 of the manual.
Hello
Apologies, I’m probably doing something very wrong. But I’ve set dynamic recorders to “yes” I’ve changed reserve length to “64 steps” but it still resets every 16 bars on T6 in the edit window, when I attempt to resample. It is set to main output in record settings SRC3, loop is off, RLEn is set to max. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong!
I put a record “trigger” on step one, and yes, it’s only set to 16 steps in length, but my pattern is only 16 steps. I just want to play the pattern, and jam with fx, and have that record as a bulk file, internally, on T6, without it resetting after 16 bars.
Ideally I’d like to just manually trigger record and not have it on "trig one " necessarily.
Thanks in advance for your patience and time!
Check your RESERVE RECORDINGS setting. Does it include Track 6?
Read about Manual Sampling in the manual.

Seriously…it’s not the best manual ever written, but it’s packed full of the useful information you’ll need to use the thing…
yep you’re right, the manual is fine actually, just not written in a way my brain instantly finds appealing, will check though. The forum is also great, it’s a beast the octatrack, feeling like it needs 4 months heavy exploration at least. Cheers anyway

I’ve had mine less than a week, and am still mostly lost.
Getting there one step at a time…
Set your recorder trig to a one shot trig - otherwise it retriggers every time the loop starts over.

I got you buddy. I think (quite new to this as well)
- press func edit with rec mode disabled to get to pattern options
- enable independent track length
- go to track 6, set it to the length you want, if you need more than 64 steps make it 1/2 or 1/4 speed
- important: make sure your master track length is 64, or 128 if you halved track 6’s speed. Otherwise it’ll reset after 16 beats regardless of your T6 length
- make sure your recorders are dynamic so you get more than 16 or whatever seconds
- drop a one shot recording trig (func+trig when in recording view) on the first step of track 6 (or wherever you want to start recording)
- make sure recording length is set to max in the record setup menu
- you can arm or disarm this trig by holding the track 6 button and pressing yes/no. if armed, as soon as the track passes it it’ll start recording and keep recording until it hits a playback trig or runs out of memory.
Now that I think about it you could probably omit all the track length steps if you don’t intend to immediately play back what you’ve recorded. Remember that the buffers will get wiped if you turn off or overwrite them so save the file if it’s a keeper.
Sheesh, this seems like a lot of steps but it only takes a few seconds to set up once you know exactly what you need to do and why!
Ah yes, thanks Anfirm, will definitely investigate that! Sounds like you’re in there. I kind of got round it by just using manual sampling, it actually works fine too, it’s not quite as tight though, would deffo be good to have sampling locked to triggers too…
I’m kind of missing a delay compensation per track like you get in Ableton. This is probably a diff topic.
There are definite ways around it, with slight adjustments to sample start points etc. But a microtiming delay per track would be luscious!
