I have a problem with the octatrack (1st Gen) The 8 first trigs of the sequencer doesn’t work. Everything look going well but when I press one of the first eight trigs nothing happen.
The problem started sudently, the machine didn’t move for a long time, no crash, no unplugged cable… I don’t understand and I can’t find anything on internet.
Do anybody know this kind of problem ?
Elektron send me a mail with things to do, I did the Test Mode, with “Function + POWER”. First time everything going well, the first trig works perfectly and all was “ok” on the list. I start again and the problem reappear.
I try to do a factory reset on TEST MODE but I can’t because I have to press the 3rd trig but it doesn’t work.
I also try to format the card, make a new set, reinstall the OS but nothing happened, format the card with a computer even try TEST MODE without the card.
In a brand new project, I think trigs 1-8 are mapped to midi tracks. Trigs 9-16 should play the assigned samples to AUDIO tracks 1-8, as long as there is a sample loaded to them.
In tracks mode, trigs 1-8 trig plays free tracks 1-8, (if none of the tracks is set to plays free, they don’t do anything), trigs 9-16 trig the machines of the audio tracks 1-8.
It seems though, that the op actually means that the buttons do not do anything at all.
I think it’s a bit complicated and I can’t believe that 8 buttons died at the same moment.
And something more weird I try the TEST MODE again, and it works perfectly but one time then the problem came back after a reboot. so the hardware looks to be operational.
It looks like intern numeric problem or maybe a piece who own the 8 first trigs.
I would try to do a Factory Reset but I can’t because I have to use one of the dysfunctional trigs.
I don’t understand. Maybe one of you know this problem ?
Thx
Possibly the 8 buttons share the same part of the internal circuit board or something like that. I’m no expert on these things. But get back in touch with Elektron support and tell them everything you’ve told us here about not being able to perform test mode operations etc. They will advise the next step.
