Octatrack as main processor after mixer

Hello guys! I’m going to do my first live gig alone next week.

For this time my setup will be:

  • octatrack
  • md-uw mk2
  • mfb 522
  • shruthi-1
  • sh-101
  • el capistan
  • eventide space
  • fmr rnla
  • phase 100
  • vermona retroverb lancet

I’m enjoying using the octatrack as master processor, putting the mixer with all the stuff inside the octa with a thru machine. You think this will be good in terms of sound? the octa seems very clean. I just have to set the mixer output very low to do not clip the octa inputs.

I tested this with other friends and it worked good.
The only problem is I don’t know how to record the jam, because I use the phones with the octa and the output goes straight to the PA.

Any advices?

Thanks in advance!

I would buy a cheap recorder with a line in and ask the PA guy to record if from the front of house

Great, that’s what I was thinking to do with my Zoom H-1

The only problem is that doing this I do not have a big headroom and they have to use a lot of gain from the FOH mixer, hope it will not be too noisy.

Thinking about adding something like a Finalizer Express from TC Electronics in the future.

headphone splitter and line in to the zoom via a mini jack cable…thats what I have used for pretty much everything Ive done recently including my last album…i know people will say its a terrible idea but to me the headphone jack is a great way to break out to my Q3HD

Could be an option if I wasn’t using the cue function on the phones
