Octatrack and Controllers + Midi Box Question

Hi there everyone!

So back in 2015 I have a full Octa setup and live gear for a bit but only did that for a month or so and moved back to PC and FL Studio. Fast forward, to 2021, I’m 30 now, jobless and pretty sure have Adult ADHD I cant sit still enough at my computer.

I got a Octatrack, A4, both MK with 2 of the CV combo things and dual layer stand.

Now before, I wanted a Controller for the Octatrack, I have a 13" Ipad, I Know a specific ap and Lemur are possibilists.

Now with that comes a midi box, I have a old Motu 19" Rack Midi Timepiece AV, but thats big and racky, with my computer needed to be on. I was looking at the Irig Midi 2, because I want the THRU Midi to go to the rest of my gear, i.e Moog Voyager with In/Out/Thru as well.

Would the iRig Midi 2 work right on a Ipad pro with the Octatrack getting the Octa to send to the Ipad back and forth with Thru working in line to other gear with the Ipad being the Midi Switch essentially.

I have searched the forum on the iRig and cant find anything useful…

bump? Anyone have any thoughts on the Irig Midi 2?

Or should i just suck it up and get a fader fox? I really want to use my Ipad in a bidirectional setup with my Octa without using a PC and getting thru from the octa to control other synths.

Is their a box with a midi in out and to like 3x in out merger? Ive been researching and I think a modern midi box with a proper in out and thru with like 2 usb midi ports on it as well. That isnt a huge rack hub thing.

If I understand your question correctly, it sounds like you just need a MIDI Thru box and any MIDI Interface with enough I/O. Kenton and MIDI Solutions make inexpensive MIDI Thru boxes.

And an iConnectivity basically allows you to route anything anywhere, plus merging, filtering, remapping, etc., but you’ll need a computer to configure it.

well i was wondering if any one had any specific on the irig Midi 2 box in specifics.

It’s MIDI Thru just passes what’s received at its MIDI In.

It sounds like what you need, ah, never mind, just read my post above again.

im sitting here being like crap i need to make a small modern box with 2 usb ports and the 3x 3.5mm midi in out and thru that are all programable.

iConecticvity is then only one that makes one.
Now i’m curious if I could use that iRig attached to a USB hub on my ipad with a splitter… I just dont know if their is a routing app on the ipad

I want my cake and eat it too!
