OctaEdit - Octatrack Software Editor and Librarian [ OSX / Windows ]

I solved it with setting lower resolution. Tested selective loading wit several Sets and Projects. Here it was 100 % stable.

Cheers and thx for the short-term answer!

Thanks for doing the actually hard work  One thing i just noticed - is it possible that Octatrack changed Volume levels of my tracks (of cause i know saving is disabled).
They changed to full level for all tracks. Before some tracks have been at zero because i used them as manually set Neighbours (source track (X) with zero Volume and neighbour (Y) with Record source Track X.

Do you prefer feedback here or as PM?

Cheers Björn
I also tried reloading the project but

No, shouldn’t have been any reason from an OctaEdit point of view why that would change; as not saving… maybe your project wasn’t saved? Or an OSv1.4 thing?

Probably an Octatrack OS PRoblem. I save quite frequently. but I really got a different state now. Volume levels and also some FX changed. might have been Filesystem error… feels like an older version of that project… but no issue - backup is in place.

A user just contacted me about not being able to open a set, thinking OctaEdit didn’t work.

If the [ Open Set ] button is disabled, it won’t do anything, and would also mean that no license details entered.

In the below image [ Open Set ] is enabled and the [ Reload Project ] button is disabled.

If so, you need to:

Copy the OctaEdit.lic file to your desktop.
Launch OctaEdit and click on the OctaEdit logo.
The ‘About’ form will be displayed. Click the ‘Cog’ button in the bottom right corner.
Enter the below details in the fields; then click the green tick.
Tip: You can copy and paste the information.

Doing a quick/dirty little bit of Market Research for those who use Facebook:

Update: OctaEdit v1.7.600 OSX Beta/Demo Version

  • OSX 10.9 and above only
  • Octatrack MkI & MkII
  • Octatrack OSv1.40 and above only
  • Saving functionality has been disabled

This is a heavily restricted demo, primarily testing:

  • New Set/Project loading
  • Project module functionality
  • Sequencer module
  • Arp Designer module
  • LFO Designer
  • Options module
  • Support module

Notes:

Reminder that OctaEdit only supports legal characters, so will not load Projects that include illegal characters.

  • OctaEdit v1 Options are not compatible with OctaEdit v2.
  • OctaEdit v1 Library Entries are not compatible with OctaEdit v2.
  • I’ll be looking at writing a v1 > v2 convertor later.

OctaEdit:

Changed the core structure of the OctaEdit application files.

Chainer: Stores all the files and settings related to the Chainer module
Library: Stores all Library Entries / files used by the Library module
Licence: Stores your OctaEdit licence file
Options: Stores your OctaEdit settings file
Support: Stores all the Support Logs used by the Support module.

No change in the Windows version atm; and I haven’t done any stuff on Linux.

I thought maybe some folks tried on Wine withbetter success than me.

Just got my Octatrack and your editor looks perfect

Should I wait until you release the v2 or is it a free upgrade from v1?

I’d advise to wait until v2; in the middle of testing / OSv1.40 updating.

I will, with 100% certainty, buy this the moment it is ready. I might even crack and buy it before that.
