I am new to this forum (not sure why as I own OT 2 years already) butā¦
Do you have the any documentation/spec for the OT file format? Can you share it?
I donāt own Windows, but I could perhaps look into OSX implementation of your code, I do programming in many different languages for last 15 years so thereās good chance I could help here for mac usersā¦

Update: No more Beta Testers wanted.
Beta Testers: Replies just sent, so if you sent me a PM, check your inbox.
PS: Does anyone NOT know what a docking panel is?
Iāve built the editor in a modular fashion, so each module (Project, Samples, Audio Pool, Sequencer, Manager etc.) are contained within dock panels. This means you can drag each module wherever you want on the screen, or dock them to each side of the screen, where they can be pinned (always show) or auto-hidden i[/i], or even aggregated together into a tabbed dock panel.
PPS: Doco, pretty pictures, video or wing it?

Iāve done plenty for the community, thank you very much - fuck you!![/quote]
I think it might be time to look at your behavior on this forum and how you talk to people.

OctaEdit - Project Manager module.
One of the main complaints I hear about the Octatrack is that the management and organisation side of it is, frankly, shite.
So, if any of the below applies to youā¦
- Want to be able to merge Banks / Patterns / Tracks?
- Ever had trouble building a live set?
- Got random stuff all over the place?
Then the below video might be of interest to you. Itās me demonstrating using OctaEdit to copy a bank and samples from one Set to another Set, including remapping the sample slots used on the fly.
Um, Iām not used to talking on camera and am just winging this, so, yeah, hopefully you get the ideaā¦
Nice!
Will it be possible to export trig data somehow, at least for the midi trigs as midi files?

One of my pet hates of the Octatrack, and something I have requested from Elektron a long time ago, is the ability to import midi files into the Octatrack.
To deal with that scenario, one of the modules in OctaEdit is the Midi Editor module.
At present, it is fairly rudimentary, and is still in Alpha stage whilst Iām doing internal testing.
But basically, it allows the ability to import standard midi files into the Octatrack. Simply export from your DAW as a SMF, then import to the Octatrack. Voila.
I have also built, though again fairly basic at present, the ability to extract/export items from the Octatrack to either the Library module, or to a SMF. Basically:
-
Got an awesome FX chain? Save it to the Library.
-
Like that Scene and want to reuse it? Save it to the Library.
-
Got a nice shaker track? You can save that to the Library.
-
Want to export pattern/track as a midi file? Yeah, can do that.
There is some complications around the limitations of the Octatrack sequencer vs the limitations of Midi that I am working through at the moment. Stuff like Octatrack only has four note polyphony on a midi step⦠so what happens when you send five notes? That kind of thing.
tl;dr: Midi Import/Export is in development.

this sounds fantastic. canāt wait to get onboard when you release it into the wild
Unreal. I feel like I am dreaming. This is def a game changer. Thank you so much Rusty for all your time and expertise, and patience getting this out.
Thanks to all who are helping and testing.
I am anxiously watching from the sidelines as well, thanks for putting all the effort in to this.
I look forward to being able to manage projects more easily and to being able to get more creative with my templates! Currently I only have a few simple templates I use, but with this tool Iād be tempted to get a lot more elaborate with them.
Anyways, Cheers!!

They are doing an excellent job, and I pity them dealing with the bugs they are seeing, but they are testing the trickiest module with āProject Managerā.
What is this you speak of?
