Octabam - Custom DSP FX for Octatrack [Unofficial]

Just noticed this on github.

Custom DSP effects for the Elektron Octatrack MKII.

The Octatrack has two effect slots per track and a fixed menu of algorithms to put in them. This project writes new ones — original DSP56300 assembly — and delivers them by patching the stock OS image.

What runs today:

ChonVerb
BongDelay

The send bus -
All eight tracks feed one shared reverb and one shared delay, across both DSP cores. This is the part the hardware was not designed to do.

It’s finally happening :')
Thank you for your research and development

I’d wait for whoever wrote them to demo how to install / use them and flag the risks
Approach with caution

Why is this stated as being for MkII?

MKI share the same OS, should work on both…

Watching this to see how many bricked OTs happen before I investigate further.

Octatrack MKII (the firmware is OS 1.40C for MKII — it will NOT work on the MKI).

From the flashing doc

I’m still curious to see (and hear) a demo of this!

Judging by the name… does this project rely on some work done on OTO BAM’s algorithms? I have BAM and claim, that it is the best reverb that I ever had. It would be epic, if the algorithms were the same. :scream_cat:

There’s no mention of this … it does mention what it is built from in the documentation .

I think “bam” is a substring of the author’s Discord user name.

During last beta we had the same firmware file for MKI and MKII users…

Fascinating!

I’m curious if there is a way to make Claude’s “knowledge” of the OT’s software sharable with others. I’m not interested in developing for it … yet … but would love to start learning the inner workings. I’m sure it would take me a long time to go through it on my own, but Claude’s already been trained on this project.

I only one way to find out .

whoa

This is absolutely fantastic news for proper gear!

Thanks for making this!

If possible, please fix the PART design…
It currently has 4 parts in a bank for 16 patterns.
Would be great if it had 16 parts in a bank. Parts could be selected with PART+16 step buttons combo.

Octatrack would become octatrack2 to me if this unnecessary design limitation would be fixed.
