Octa weird DIN Sync issues with Frostwave Quad CV

I’m having a weird issue with using my OT Sync Out to my modular. I use a Frostwave Quad CV for my midi to CV conversion and it also provides a DIN Sync Output.

For reference, I used my Waldorf Pulse 2 Arp clock output to test the system. The Pulse 2’s internal arp midi clock thru the Frostwave unit worked like a charm in providing DIN Sync to my modular. Completely reliable clock.

Here’s where it gets weird. I connect my Octatrack and enable Trans and Sync Out in the Octa’s Sync menu. I hit play on the Octa and notice on my midi router a brief flash that it is getting the Transport control midi signal. There is a brief delay and then it seems the Octa midi clock starts running. This delay seems to mess up something with the Frostwave unit where it does not provide DIN Sync.

I tested my Octa’s midi sync output with my DAW setup (Reaper) slaved and it seems to work. Long story short, my modular setup doesn’t seem to work with the Octa as master clock. I don’t have another midi-DIN Sync unit other than my old Frostwave to check. Is anyone else able to use a midi-DIN sync unit with their Octa as midi clock master?

confirmed here. i assumed it was my frostwave that was faulty as the innerclock sync shift works ok… never got to try the kenton pro 2000 dinsync with the octo… sold that recently
not sure what to suggest other than try another midi to sync 24 converter

I think it’s sorted out. I forgot my Roland A-880 midi router needs to be booted up every time there is a new clock master by holding down the proper midi input key. Kind of a PIA way for Roland to feature this. Not sure why they couldn’t just be content with having any Input be capable of providing mapped clock at any time.

Anyway, it seems to work now. Both my modular and the DAW are chasing the OT.

As a side note, I bought cheap used Roland A-880 and the MX-8 midi routers dirt cheap off the 'bay. Asking those who have experience with both, which of these two should I keep? The other goes back on the market.
