Octa / Takt as DJ Drum / FX Box

I want to DJ with a drum machine and outboard FX - are there any good single-box solutions beyond Octatrack?

Want to be able to send audio from Xone 96 and it’s 2 sends to a box for reverb / delay etc. and pipe it back into the mixer. I’d also like to be able to play supplemental drum patterns and bring those in too, as another DJ track effectively.

I’ve owned the Digitakt before and loved it, but sold it when downsizing. For drums it’s ace, but I don’t believe you can send audio for effecting can you? Apparently the Digitone can? Would be brilliant if there was a way.

Also Overbridge is brilliant if I do want to use it in the studio… Lack of OB on the Octa is off-putting.

I think the Octatrack could handle all this, but everyone says how incredibly complicated it is - I’ve never used one but feel making drum patterns live would be long-winded compared to Digitakt?

Can you sequence FX params on the Octa? Also can you use the crossfader to blend between 2 FX scenes? Is all of that easy to setup on the fly?

As always, thoughts much appreciated. Cheers, H

Yes

Yes

Depends on your muscle memory and working knowledge of the machine, but yes.

If you just want to use the OT as a drum machine and FX box, it is very well suited to that task. Of course it can do a milliom other things as well. Its a complex machine, because it can do so much. This is different to a complicated machine, that is difficult to use.

@ylva just released a cool utility for Ableton that really opens up the Digitone as a focused drum machine. then you’d have your drums and routable FX.

OT would bring other things to the table, though, like if you want vocal or any other samples as well. I always like to have a sample handy of a computer voice saying my DJ name.
