Running into a bug/issue with the Octatrack. I just noticed that if I try to mute more than 3 tracks at once it doesn’t always mute/unmute all of them.
As an example, if I mute 1,2,3,4 all at once, it’s pot luck, sometimes all four will mute, other times maybe just 2 out of 4 will mute, or 3 out of 4.
Has anyone else experienced this? Problem persists in different projects. This is a bit of a problem for playing live and I would like to get this fixed or find a workaround?
Could re-installing the OS work? Or changing CF card? I’ve got a new CF coming today to replace the standard 16gb, which is almost maxed out, it’s got 426mb left, would that have anything to do with it?
Works ok here, it might be worth contacting support to check what they say, I know there is an issue which affects some units not reading multiple button presses correctly, it might be that.
I’ve actually experienced this, and did not realize this was a somewhat known issue. I sort of just assumed I had been not pressing some mutes correctly because it sort of sporadically happens. Will have to test it more seriously when I get home…
Same here, if i try to mute 4 tracks at once (FN+track or Quick Mute) it doesn’t mute all of them every time. Mostly 3 for sure but one of the 4 sometimes stays unmute. Same behaviour when unmuting.
I’m on MK2 (3bought like 3 years ago) last OS 1.40A.
In re-reading your post, was this occurring in track mute mode only or also when using the track buttons around the screen to mute? Haven’t played in ages, but using the track buttons was more reliable from what I remember.
If you bought this as a used machine, you dont know its history.
Its possible the tact switches (aka trig buttons) need a) cleaning, or b) there was a spill and the diodes between the switches are dirty or corroded, this makes the circuit unreliable.
Its more likely a hardware issue.
If you have the time and skills, search the UI board for faults, and clean the tact switches.
You could also hit Elektron up for a replacement UI board. I did that with my MK1 OT. It was cheap and very simple self install.
