Obsession: what 2 devices to plug into Digitone L and R?

The Digitakt is a good option to plug into the L n R of the Digitone, then use the DT’s mono L n R for mono synths.
A real human centipede type vibe.

Digitone 2 changes the calculus here…

It still makes sense to plug in a characterful analog monosynth on L.

But now that you have 16 voices and dedicated drum synth, it’s harder to say what the R should be.

Any suggestions?

I’d say a characterful mono and a 303. Or maybe a bitimbral with separate mono outs, like a Micromonsta2, but that could be easily redundant given the broad palette of the DNII.

Maybe a little granular like the lemon drop or a simple sampler just for that added vocals/textures/rompler sounds you can’t achieve within the DNII. So maybe 1010 Tangerine, Roland P6/404 or similar stuff.

Or, finally, a knob per function mono plus a OG DT

Ive had 2 semi-modular analog monos hooked up but Ive started to miss midi CC. I also run out of polyphony easy now that I can truly layer sounds. Cobalt8m to the rescue, adding 8 voices and midi CC. I track in DAW anyways, so I can sequence them all on the digitone and run audio how I want.

Most likely i’ll keep the monos hooked up to LR, at least in the studio.

For me, its L-Subsequent 37 and R-Guitar (UA Dream '65).

Currently have my Digitone Keys setup with a Drumbrute Impact and a Bass station II connected to the inputs. The reverb on the DBI sounds super good, and the chorus on the bass station gives it some nice width. I was stoked to not need a mixer for this little setup. Just wish I had one more input for my volca keys…
