Obsession: what 2 devices to plug into Digitone L and R?

Something that’s playing over and over in my head: the optimal devices to plug into Digitone’s L and R, pan them both centre, and take advantage of its sequencer plus Overbridge or USB audio.

Things I think about:

  • mono preferred, to not have to sum
  • sound contrast to the Digitone, and each other
  • presets for easy session recall
  • built-in FX a plus, because you might not want e.g. delay on drums as well as synth
  • multi-timbral neat to use up 4 MIDI tracks

The minimal setup, and finding just the right one, really keeps me thinking.

iPad

Connect the usb from DN to iPad
iPad headphone out to DN L & R inputs.

Run AUM on iPad and load your four favourite synth and drum apps each with different MIDI channel to be sequenced by the four DN MIDI tracks.

It’s brilliant.

Roland SH01-a should definitely be considered.

The sound design is pleasantly direct compared to DN, and it’s super fun to be sequenced from DN over MIDI. Trig conditions to get lots of variation out of each pattern.

I thought the input on the Digitone was stereo

Just Digitakt in stereo with midi being sent from one to the other and back again for extra LFOs, additional sequencer fuckery, etc. Digitone outputs hooked up to Digitakt for on the fly sampling. Digitakt outputs going through the Digitone’s master distortion. They’re made for each other. You’re welcome

A 32+ channel mixer plus every piece of gear you can get your hands on.

Typhon + some drum machine

It is, but you can address and capture the left and right separately, and so treat 1 stereo as 2 mono inputs.

Thus the Digitone becomes an all-in-one sequencer and interface for 3 devices, itself (8 notes of FM) and 2 more devices of your choice.

Stick with op-z + DN, more than enough fun to be had with those two.

Probably the best bang for the buck there is actually, plus you can plug DN into Typhon too, and use the awesome Dreadbox filter and Sinevibes FX on top of your DN hi quality digital FM mayhem.

Use whatever you have already or buy what’s available for cheap on your local market and make some more ass-kicking music :love_you_gesture:

@johnl your obsession has a name, it’s GAS.

You should get two more Digitone’s, and then run them mono into the Origitone’s inputs.

Just chain multiple Digitones, then loop the last one back into the inputs of the very first one.

yea, and I say Typhon by itself, because those stereo FX are worth hearing in stereo.

I’ve actually sold almost everything, and only have this Digi+2 setup remaining
Digitone, Nord Drum 2, Micromonsta 2

L…Moog Sub 37
Completely opposite to the DN sonicly…and Moogs sound great through the DN reverb, chorus and delay…

R…0 coast
Cause neither the DN or 37 are as random or experimental as modular / semi modular

A dirty distorted 303 clone would also be juxtaposed enough.
