Oberheim TEO-5

Lesser men argue about the merits of digital vs analog drive.

I’ve risen above and only ask “Will it piss off my neighbor?”

This is really interesting, because when I tried it at Superbooth last year, I patched something up that made me think of My Bloody Valentine, more than anything in my electronic music canon, and I knew then I really wanted it.

Hell yeah man. I love MBV. Loveless is definitely a top ten album.

That’s funny that you were drawn to that side of the TEO too.

I did a shoegaze thing on my prophet 6 a while back - Shoegaze thread - #152 by philroyjenkins - cool thread in general.

Not to derail too much. To take it back to TEO:

I’m glad I bought when I did. They just jumped to $1850 :upside_down_face:

I like the end cheeks… knobs are a little big though. Did you not like the original knobs?

Isn’t Teo a he?

Looks great with the wooden panels! Also like how minimalist this table is. Looks like somebody actually wants to make music instead of obsessing over gear .

Im thinking about ordering wood cheeks from mine. Are these from synthcraft?

They were fine, I just like re-knobbing things.

@Bartizanier
Yeah, they are from synthcraft. I usually make my own but I’ve been busy and these had a lot of internal cutouts I didn’t feel like iterating on.

Not your usual wood slab. I’d say SC did a mostly solid job. Edges are weirdly sharp, which you can see on the site. Nothing you can’t soften easily with the shaft of a philips-head. Just needed a slight rolled edge.

The mounting method is unique and I give him kudos for the solution.

Yeah I was going to make my own but the internal routing looks like its way beyond my capabilities.
Now I just have to figure out if I will get slapped with tariffs if I order some.
Thanks!

Nah. Not mine. Just cuz there’s a big knob between the end cheeks don’t change anything for me.

(Yes I know TEO is short for Tom Elroy Oberheim)

I set mine up running to Bastl Midilooper and back with Local Control off, and it works (almost) perfectly.
Only trouble I had was that when switching the Arpeggiator on, notes/MIDI would no longer be transmitted to the Midilooper. I checked Global settings and Arpeggiator MIDI send is turned on.

Anybody tried sending Arp MIDI and have issues of this kind? I’m trying to understand what went wrong here.
