Ô Canada!

I drove from southwestern Ontario to Vancouver and back a year later, but it was twenty-five years ago. Probably someone here has done it since.

oh, good old days when 80 gallons of gasoline was 3 cents. And what gasoline it was, still remember that smell :heat:

Roughly speaking, I’d follow the Timbits Route :doughnut: You can’t go wrong with that

This is the way.

I’ve done Vancouver to Calgary and Calgary to Winnipeg, separately. Both by taking the Number One.

Vancouver to Calgary will be very dependent on the weather, going through the Rockies in February. Might run into unforeseen road closures. Lots of opportunities to explore small towns and such, though.

Calgary to Winnipeg is about the most boring thing someone can ever do.

On the way out, we ate lunch, dinner, had one overnight, and breakfast on this stretch. None were the least bit memorable (though not actively bad). On the way back, we packed sandwiches and drinks, and kicked it from Calgary back to Winnipeg in one long day of driving.

I live in Quebec City, but I dream of being surrounded by high mountains.

Thanks, I hadn’t heard this before!

This to me is the quintessential Winnipeg track.

Strap in for the ride! I don’t think Venetian Snares liked Winnipeg very much in 2005 …

Never! It might be a bit before we actually make the move. To maintain eligibility for renewal of my 5 year permanent residency, I need to be living in Canada with my spouse for a minimum of two (nonconsecutive) of the five years. The trip of it is, living with my spouse outside of Canada is considered living in Canada for the purposes of permanent residency renewal. That buys us some time…

That sounds like the plot of a cartoon

Car will break down on the day of your caseworker check in. Wife and caseworker sitting in a room tugging on collars while a giant clock ticks in a fisheye lense. Sweat drops. You ride up on the back of a snowmobile with a molson ice and a canucks flag.

I’m subscribed for more!
