Maybe coming soon. They also just announced the KeyLab mk3.

“They” ? You mean Arturia.

I wonder if this means that a new Keystep/Beatstep Pro are in the works to be released soon

This thread doesn’t have a clue.

Ummm… yes. I thought it was implied by the link I posted.

Ok, back to Launchkeys. apparently, one can step sequence directly from the MK4, was it possible with the MK3?

No, only the launchpad pro.

Couple of finer kinks to iron out. This looks like a sensible upgrade. Kinda like going from an iPhone 14 to a 15. Not needed but of course nice if you can.

The LK49 looks much improved ergonomically. I have the mk3 49 and having everything off to the left just isn’t much fun to work with. They’ve put everything central now which makes way more sense, but at the expense of moving the pitch and mod up like on the 37.

The sequencer sounds like a fair upgrade, and it always seemed likely what with them packing a sequencer into the Launchpad and also not forgetting the FL key. Would be hard to not have it for LKmk4.

The Mini 37 is also a bit of a no brainer since Arturia don’t make one and there’s not much competition in that space. The big question is the level of quality. The LK Mini mk3 is not the best quality wise especially compared to the Minilab mk3 which is very good. If they can get the quality up to snuff then that will be a very strong contender. (also noting the pads look a tad bigger on these smaller models now.)

Edit: another thing to consider for would be upgrades is that Novation do offer a cashback scheme. So once the new series is in place you can get a discount off the new one by sending your old gear which will get you a discount.

Novation LaunchKey MK4 // Mini vs Compact vs Premium vs MK3 // Review & tutorial - YouTube

Now I need someone to compare the new keybed with Arturia’s new keybed, please.

Sanjay C’s video on the Launchkey mk4 touches on some differences, and I do generally trust him on keyboard stuff b/c that’s his background.

I think the ‘premium’ keybed on the LK4 49 and 61 probably beat out the Arturia’s essentials, but I’m not sure it could compete with the Keylab (which is nearly double the price).
^pure speculation statement

Kind of odd that the lineup includes a ‘mini’ version of the 25 and 37, which places the mod and pitch wheel above the keybed, but then the 49 and 61 have that layout and don’t get the mini-moniker

??? Mini referrers to the keys size.

I think the move of the pitch & mod is a cost saving exercise and for a universal design across the range.

It makes things easy for packaging when things are in the same position across all the boards. Presumably there’s also a design benefit because you don’t need custom placement. It also allows for a smaller footprint which may help users get them on their desk.

The previous LKs had the mod to the left except the 37 which placed it above the keys. Now that’s unified across all of them. Now only the 25 has it there.

This is the one with wheels to the left.

With the size of the controls the chassis wouldn’t be any shorter if they placed the wheels above so logical to put them to the left.

The Minis have modulation sliders.

No hold-function in this?

Ah yes you’re right I hadn’t noticed that the keys were a slightly different size, I thought it was more about the compactness of the unit. In which case I withdraw my comment
