Hello all, apparently I love my Monostation so much that I JUST CAN’T TURN IT OFF…

I hadn’t used my Monostation in a few months (was resting comfortably in its box). Everything was playing and sounding wonderful, until I went to turn it off. It would not shut down. Power button did nothing. So I unplugged it. That worked. Turned it on again, fires right up. Press the button to shut it down, and it simply will not.

Any of you experience this issue? I’m hoping it’s not a physical defect. As stated, I tried multiple times. Powers right up. Try to turn off and power button does nothing.

It sounds like a physical defect. I think that you are not the only one.

The ultimate issue was confirmed by novation as switch failure, which aligns with your symptom. Sorry :frowning:

You could disassemble and test the switch but at that point, probably may as well just replace it. Maybe Novation will send you a switch as well?

You could also purchase an in-line power switch if you want to put off the repair and not yank the cable every time.

Like an extension cord with one of these in the middle is what I mean:

I think I remember that turning off properly is required to save the state of the machine.

I think you’re right about power down needed for saving.

I’ve never taken mine apart but I think you remove the rubber pad and go from there. There’s usually breakdown videos online. Hit the switch with some contact cleaner if you can get between it. That’s what I’d do. I might use crc contact clearer over deoxit because it can leave more residue but I’m no expert.

It’s an unusual button, I can see how it would be prone to failure.

Hi everyone, happy monostation user here. Here a couple of video i made testing a yamaha spx 990 with a simple sequence.
The raw tone of the oscillators really shines through a nice reverb, for exaple also tc hall of fame.
I dont know about you but i feel like i prefer it to be either super wet or super dry, but of course it depends from the context.

A bonus rec of the monostation thru tc flashback tape delay

I love this synth, use it live mostly for basslines and in the studio for sketching ideas (looping and sampling on the octatrack) and sound design (percussive sounds, weird leads).

These videos and the recordings were mostly for testing the fx units, one because it was old and unused for a long time, and the other as i just got it new a few weeks ago

just got one, moving away from menu diving to knob per function so should be fun to learn this one, love the sound too, classic tones and lots of nice lights!
