Note length, transpose, and polyphonic questions

I’ve just had the A4 for about a week, and I haven’t been able to find the answers to these questions in the manual.

First what do the values of the note length parameter correspond to? Are they relative to the tempo, or absolute length in seconds? Is there an easy way to set the note length to be a quarter note, eighth note and so on?

Secondly is there a way to transpose the keyboard rather than transposing the pattern? Like if I’m playing in G, I’d like to set it so the lowest note on the keyboard is a G rather than a C. I realize I could tune the oscillators up or down, but it would be nice to be able to change it without going into both of the oscillator pages.

Finally in poly mode, is there a way to add a note to a given trig without erasing the one that’s already on it? Like if I want to put two notes or a chord or whatever on a trig, I have to hold all the keys and then press the trig. That means you’re limited to entering notes that can all be reached on the keyboard at the same time. I’d like to be able to enter one note, and then go up an octave and enter another note, but I can’t figure out how.

You can tune/transpose the keyboard in multimap mode. But that’s possibly more awkward/restrictive/Time consuming (sound pool hassle switching sounds) than doing it on the oscillator pages of a sound?

I ‘think’ you can add/alter notes on a trig by pressing the trig and adjusting parameters on the screen. You might have to select a certain page while holding the trig. But If I remember right there are 1st/2nd/3rd/4th note parameters and you can adjust each one to select notes. I could be wrong here though and don’t have AK in front of me to check.

Edit - you can also just choose to transpose one track and not full pattern. Might do as a workaround if you aren’t planning to transpose anything else in a pattern and just want to transpose a track for live playing etc? Just hold transpose button + hit the tracks that you don’t want to transpose, their LEDs should go out meaning they’re now immune to any transposing.

Note length values relate to sequencer steps. For example, a note with a length setting of 4 will sustain for 4 sequencer steps before releasing. Therefore, in terms of the number of seconds a note will last for, tempo is also an important factor as this is linked to the sequencer.
