Sorry for bombarding you all with editor updates recently, but you might find the latest version interesting…
Alongside various fixes and feature, I’ve added an experimental sound engine to the editor - a clean-room style approximation, which runs on the Mac. Not an exact duplicate of the G2’s engine. Only a few modules at this point.
Download my simple lead patch: G2-Edit/PatchTestFiles/SimpleLead.pch2 at main · chrispurusha/G2-Edit · GitHub
…and use the file menu to load the patch.
Then, there’s an “Experimental” menu section at the top. Enable the sound engine, select your incoming MIDI, audio output and you should get some kind of sound - if you’re lucky. Obvs. there are things which won’t work if you don’t have a G2 attached - e.g. volume indicators etc. Should respond to pitch bend, mod wheel (for filter opening/closing) and aftertouch.
There’s also a virtual keyboard in the menus if you don’t have a MIDI keyboard set up, but that doesn’t do pitch bends etc.
Edit: New release just added with greatly improved sound engine quality (mainly via oversampling), but slowing down on releases for now.
