Nord Drum 3 & 3P

I prefer Promark 5A Hickory Wood Tip, but I’ve also used the budget ‘Sound Percussion Labs’ Hickory Drum Sticks Wood 5A for about 10 years because I’m cheap and rarely break sticks.

If it helps, compared to 5A, 5B sticks are a tad thicker and heavier, which you may prefer. Conversely, 7A are thinner and lighter than 5A.

I would recommend nylon tips for edrums/pads, I use these:

I originally got mallets but ended up playing it with fingers/hands and i’m stocked to be able to trigger sounds that way as i’m not a drummer and way more prolific producing beats that way.

I had a Nord Drum 1, sold it when I pre-ordered the Norse Drum 2, sold that to get a Nord Drum 3, but heard it had problematic FX and bought some other gear instead, in the hopes a ND4 would be close around the corner.

It’s been almost 10 years now patiently waiting :man_facepalming:t2::sob:

Where is the darn thing!

Give us a knob per function rack mount, with full trigger input and individual voice outputs.

PLEASE!

Maybe they should team up w/ Elektron for the sequencer part, throw in a some Analog voices while we’re at it!

 !NordTron!

Id gladly pay €2k for something like that!

Isn’t that pretty much the machinedrum??

Yes. Syntakt can come close, too - but needs more user initiative for the sound design. And some physical modelling machine for cymbals/hihats.

Made this not too long ago, all drums are ND2, everything else is Maschine+ (which I no longer have).

Keep thinking about making an album using only a ND2 (apart from sequencers of course, and possibly effects).

Got my ND3p out of storage yesterday and something strange has happened to one of the pads. I’m pretty sure it was fine before. It’s just been sat in a room next door, not next to any heat sources or anything like that.

The top right pad has drifted left so that it’s touching the top middle pad!

Anyone seen anything like this before?

I’ve noticed my pads are slightly not aligned properly from new. I thought maybe the glue is affected by heat, so thought of gently heating it with a hair dryer and trying to push it back one day. Not suggesting it will work or won’t damage anything though, but maybe worth a try

Mine too, works fine though :+1:

Where is the Nord Drum 4 it’s been like 10 years

Interesting. Same pad?

I’m wondering if this needs a spacer for storage - a bit like those cross-shaped tile spacers.

my pads are a tad askew with no egregious touching. i’ve had it maybe 4 years

Sorry, I meant the same what Tokin_Tone and PlumWrinkles are saying. It seems to be normal for pads being askew a bit.

I bought a ND3, it will arrive in a few days.

I was checking the possibilities for kick drum pedal. Can someone tell me if Yamaha KD-65 will it work with ND3?

I thought that since i’m a drummer and already have a kick drum pedal adjusted to my playing, it would make more sense to me than buying something like KU100 or KT-10 and ending up not finding it comfortable.

I expect so - I’ve got the earlier kp60 which works well.

Yes, if the kp60 works probably the kp65 should make it too.

Many thanks!

Trying to make an enclosure for the ND 3p engine with CAD. Next week we’ll cut and punch the casing. Measuring and make a design was at least educational

Edit: better impression

i don’t think MD fm drums envelopes are velocity sensitive like that. nord drum velocity fm envelopes are like alien organic shifty when you tune them to interact, nothing like it
