Norand Morphos

Thank you for the update, I found the manual via, Internet archive as you suggested.
Could you share what your dissapointment was, were there hardware / software issues, any quirks that didn’t get ironed out in firmware updates?

It’s been four years, so I don’t remember much. I had Mono mk1 at the time, on firmware 1.2.3r, and I liked it a lot. Morphos has a Mono mk2 feel, with similar small buttons and touchstrips. I didn’t like those (neither the feel nor the features that made use of them), and after some experimentation with the top strips and buttons, I pretty much abandoned them. The main issue was that the FM didn’t sound as good on Morphos. I thought that might be due to the new software, which was a fork of the Mono 2.0 firmware that came out in beta about the same time. But when I put the 2.0 firmware on my Mono, it didn’t have the issue. (I later reverted to 1.99, for reasons detailed in the Norand Mono thread here.)

There are complaints about TZFM bleed on the MW thread for Morphos, but that didn’t bother me so much, as I wasn’t looking to it for pure waveforms. But I kept comparing it to Mono. It was more awkward to use, and it was taking up too much rack space for what it was delivering for me. Due to logistical complications (their first shipment to me disappeared into US customs and never emerged, and the second one had to be sent to me in Canada), I didn’t get a chance to properly use it until late November 2022, and I put it up for sale here in January 2023.

I learned something, I guess, and the experience did keep me away from Mono mk2, at least. If you don’t have prior experience with Mono, you might evaluate it more fairly than I did. Please report back after you’ve had some experience with it!
