That’s a great synth, it stands out from the crowd.
You will have a lot of fun with it!

Hm same, is firmware reliable?
Was reading allot of negative stuff regarding this device, so any input would be appreciated

I’ll have 30 days to find out! Some people have no issues at all…

No idea what the steep price drop means… Mkiii incoming? Too much stock? The end of norand? We’ll have to wait and see I guess

Do you know why they changed the buttons on the MK2? It looked so much cooler before. I really hate the look of it now.

Because - I think - you can now slide your finger over them for smooth parameter changes. And probably for velocity(/aftertouch?) support, which is hard to get with clicky buttons.

(Just guessing, I’m in the MKI camp)

Please let us know how it goes! Been intrigued by the mono since I’ve discovered it, but I’m afraid to pull the trigger because of the various complaints by users about unstable firmware(s), as I’d like to use it in live sets.
Good luck!

Hi,
Is the Mono has a local off mode to use its keyboard as as a midi controller ?
Thanks !

you can just mute it in destination. when in doubt just remove the aufio cable?

Ok, so the keyboard send midi notes (and other controls) over the midi output (DIN or USB).

Hmm, got the Synth Pro X at the last sale, but I’m still in the return window, not quite sure what to do…

I really do like the Uno, it’s an awesome sounding synth and groovebox, but I feel pretty covered in that area with Elektrons, and maybe a more specialized mono would be a better choice…
I’m more into experimental/techno kind of stuff, seems like this one can go more into that? it also sounds like it can go closer to a 303 vibe?

The sequencer and modulation options looks bananas

Accordingly to Norand (connectors, point 4) it does this:

MIDI OUT : Midi data output, use a standard MIDI cable to connect to MIDI In of an external MIDI device. Outputs the currently playing sequence.

Never tried it myself, because I use other sequencers.
I don’t know if it outputs midi notes you play on monos keyboard.
My mono is stored away at the moment, can’t look into it.

Thanks. I read the manual and it doesn’t mention it. If a user can confirm, it will be nice :content:

there were actually little adapters planned for the mk2, that yo could plug into the back and they would offer different interfacing features

but i gues that wont happened anymore. at least my mk1 has some cv options

It arrived today.
I played with it for 10 minutes and had two crashes. Then I updated firmware. It crashed within 5 minutes after updating…
I don’t know if this is down to individual units or certain key combos. Not that I was pressing a lot of keys at once, just trying stuff out… But it’s going back…

It’s sad, cause it really sounds amazing. On the other hand, I didn’t really need it in my setup, just wanted it for a long time and could not resist the low price. So I’m glad I’ve tried it, and maybe a bit relieved to send it back. The sound is amazing, the interface is not really up my alley.
It’s quite complex in terms of key combo’s. Most functions are one button or FUNC + button and are labelled. But there are quite a few unlabelled but important key combs… So you need to use it a lot in order to get the most out of it. There’s no screen, so to see what LFO shape you are using, you need to remember the color. Or just listen
Advanced synth for advanced users - if yours is stable enough to use… In that case: very rewarding and deep synth.

For me personally: I have a MPC keys 61 that I’m getting to grips with - and that I like quite a lot. I want to build a two tier setup with a drum machine, micromonsta 2, a mixer with 2 or 3 auxes, some effects and one more small synth. That could have been the norand, but for now I’ll go back to my trusty monoloque. Digitone ii and minifreak are candidates to replace it later on. Both have audio in and effects, so can serve double duties in the setup… But there’s still so much to do and learn on the MPC that it might be wise to postpone that as long as possible…

That’s not very encouraging with a crash so soon after updating  Wonder if it was just a coincidence, or really a bad unit… It doesn’t seem like the latest build is so unstable from reading this thread?

I really have no idea… Based on the reports here with some people with crashes and some people with stable units, I would think there is some variation in units? But it might also be down to the user… Some button combo’s might trigger a crash, and users that know what they are doing don’t use those combo’s? Mine’s going back, that’s the only thing I am sure of right now.
I really hope the dev can get it really stable with another update!

I sold my mk1 because of weird thing happening during use, and no answer from dev on the forum, no communication… i’m sad that happen with the mk2 …
Update process was not a really cool thing to do …
