I would like to connect my MicroBrute to the Octatrack. The Microbrute is monophonic so does this mean i have to use a mono jack?
If i use a stereo jack in the mono output of the Microbrute, will this cause any problems?
Also, if i plug a stereo jack into, for example, input C of the Octatrack, will this cause problems?
And one last question! If i am using 2 separate sound sources (e.g. drum machine and synth) into C/D on the Octatrack, i assume they will be coming out of opposite speakers (i haven’t actually tried yet). Is the only way to fix this to have C and D on separate thru machines?
As microbrute is mono you’d be best served using a mono jack if you cam, but no issues using a stereo one if that’s all you have, some equipment works with tip/ring/ground (like stereo) to provide balanced i/o but that will only fly if both ends are co patible and will make no difference to you in your example, use what you have
You can have c and D separate or mixed on one track or you can pull them to separate tracks and do as you please (ie with or without pan) depends on the input for c and d
Just want to point out your terminology here - monophonic has nothing to do with cables.
Monophonic in the case of the MicroBrute means it can only play one note at a time - it has nothing to do with stereo/mono audio signals.

Yes my bad, i wrote that post in a hurry. Checked the Microbrute was mono and then used the wrong terminology, DOH!

Thanks for the info, i have only stereo jacks at the moment but it sounds like i will be ok with them.

Sorry to tell you that the audio signal of the Minibrute is mono too.
Please can you tell me where I can do this. : i.m a nooby and can ´t find where and how this is setup.
I try to sample my Godin Guitar in the OT but it sounds only on the right or left side. I could not manage this
In advance, thank you !

recording setup page 2 shows the input selection options
Function+C:D Encoder A selects the options, including
A B i.e. left right separate
A+B summed
A
B
etc
pg50 pdf
same selection options if you are using Thru Machine
also applies to C D obviously
i’d add the gain, via a line6 box or similar before feeding the OT
