Non-classical songs with outstanding orchestral arrangements

Jack Nitzsche is such an undersung legend…Buffalo Springfields “Expecting to Fly” is pretty unbeatable too. Others that come to mind: Van Dyke Parks’ “Song Cycle” album is so chock full of inventive orchestral arrangements, so intimidatingly clever, almost made me want to give up at one point

David Axelrod (“The Edge”) and Dexter Wansel (“The Sweetest Pain” “Nights Over Egypt”) arrangements also top my list
