Hello Everyone,

My Rytm arrived yesterday and all seems fine, except for when i turn on the the power it created some sort of humming noise.

Is this normal? I haven’t hooked up properly so only used it with headphones so far.

Thanks!

Mine does too.

Ok, it works fine though so i’m just gonna ignore it i guess…
Thanks for the fast reply xid!

Justus!

Funnily enough I have had some hum issues with both the Analog Four and the Analog Rytm.

I thought I might have a ground loop issue but it turns out I have a problem with my headphones, my Urbanears Zinkens (came free with an OP-1) have a hum but my Audio Technica ATH M30’s and ATH M50’s both give a clean signal.

I figure the lead on the Zinkens has gone stereophonic (if that’s the word).

I’d suggest trying a different set of headphones if you can.

I have Beyerdynamics in perfect condition, also have a analog keys which doesn’t make the sound with the same headphones so that’s not the problem in my case…

Maybe i will create a support ticket to see if it’s a malfunction of some sort.

Thanks!!!

If you find out its an issue, let us know. I hadn’t even considered it a problem.

Anyone else confirm this?

Edit: @sentient so you don’t hear anything when you turn it on? There’s definitely like a brown flourish when I start mine every time. Is that what we’re taking about?

Yep, will let you guys know!

Justus

Update: Ok I just tried it with three different headphones (ATHM50, Grado 125 and Koss PortaPros) and the noise is still there. For what it’s worth it doesn’t come out of the main outs, either through interface or with the headphones plugged into one. It seems to me that if it’s a problem it’s with the headphone output.

Does the noise stop or get reduced if you turn off the Compresor FX?

When i load kits that have too much make up gain or volume in the compresor i get noise.

Does anyone has a good tip on how to set the AR compresor to have a good beefy mix but not getting to much noise?

I think we are talking about different noise here. It’s not noise that comes from using the compressor.
There is a short burst of noise when i turn on the unit and then it disappears…

So i reckon you don’t have a burst of sound when you turn on your unit?

Have you checked if the sound happens on the main outs too? Or are you just confirming on headphones?

No weird noise on main outs, just headphones.

Ok, now i understand you.

I do get the weird noise you are referring to when turning on the AR.

And i confim it only happens in the Headphones output.

in the main out i only get a normal click (like when powering studio monitors or consoles)

Ok. Well maybe it’s normal then? It’s an analog machine after all, i have no idea.
My unit works fine and been working with it for two days now and love it.
I will just wait and see what elektron has to say about it…
Will post when i get an answer back from Elektron.

Oh good. Phew.

Got a reply back from Elektron and they said it’s normal.
Sorry if i stressed anybody out with the topic…
