Well that’s a shame. Absynth is still one of the best softsynth around. Worth checking out Plasmonic too.

I bought version 1 long, long ago and there wasn’t anything like it in the world at that time. It’s amazing it’s held up for so long with the dense crop of competitors. It’s no longer in my rotation, but I’m still a little sad it’s going away.

I would expect this to be the tip of the ice berg for other products dropping off.

Battery probably next. Fortunately both of these work great under Rosetta 2, for now. Apple Silicon native compatibility would have been great but my gut says they’re devoting resources to all things that run on the Kontakt/Reaktor/Maschine platforms for such updates.

It all reminds me of Kore, and that gives me the sad.

First software I purchased for a dual processor G4 powerMac. Got it with Battery, Logic Gold Exs24 Edition and a Midiman Delta sound card.

Fun times, not that I had a clue what I was doing. Come to think of it, I still don’t. :joy:

Pretty sure I paid £50 for a tutorial DVD for Absynth at one point. I’m too embarrassed to reveal just how much I contributed to NIs coffers over the years but it takes a lot now to convince me to pay for a Komplete update after owning every licence for Finalscratch (cross-graded from Stanton) and Kore.

Absynth felt powerful in relation to it peers though, I liked toying with the granular stuff. Might light up an old cheesegrater from the roofspace for the nostalgia.

they have updates planned for reaktor FM8 etc. there’s a post about their schedule. I’m sad to see Absynth go. I’m using it right now in some tracks i’ve been messing with.

Already compatible with Apple Silicon native M1

Kontakt

Guitar Rig 6

Will be compatible with Apple Silicon native M1 in early Q4/2022

FM8

Komplete Kontrol

Maschine 2

Massive

Massive X

Will be compatible with Apple Silicon native M1 in early 2023

Please note that the list above provides an estimation and is subject to change. We’ll update here once a native M1 support is added to each product. Thanks all again for your patience!

I guess continuing to keep Absynth updated was leaving a bad taste in the developers mouths.

Thanks for this

Battery on M1 natively is going to be unreal.

sad! glad i bought it when i did

This schedule is really helpful, thanks for posting it.

I’m almost entirely back in the box with NI controllers (Maschine Mk3, KK s49mk2) and a new 16" MBP and I am in heaven. Barely touching hardware.

I hope not. Polyend Play to Battery is my hybrid secret go-to. Awesome VST drum sampler

The best VST drum sampler out there. Would be v sad if they dropped it.

Hm, I hope it stays working for a long time even if they stop supporting it. Never was my most used synth but it definitely seems like it does some things other synths just don’t, and I always got some interesting textures out of it. What’s the next closest thing?

To me it seems like they have kind of “exhausted” the possibilities for creating new stuff in their traditional domains. Most of what they release nowadays falls under the category “Nice to have if it’s included in Komplete, but I’m not buying that on its own”. They are making progress, but mostly in products that I’m not really interested in (e.g. all the strummed guitar Kontakt stuff).

Absynth, I have never really used it that much, perhaps because I have never really taken the time to fully understand it… Maybe I will now that it is old school :face_with_monocle:

My guess as to why they have removed it is that there’s some little technical limitation (e.g. they’re using some library that got an update which broke something in the code) that would not be terribly hard to fix, but working it out isn’t worth it to them any more.

…my computers don’t see any ni products anymore since 2010…
before, i was a heavy ni user…
absynth was huuuuge for me…battery was mindblowing…
i had good friends all over their team…
presented some off their early products with passion…

and wait a second…no the full truth…later on, i once used their traktor app on an ipad in 2013…but that was not from the same company anymore…
well, after all, not such a good consumer, i am, i guess…shame on me…

no further comment…

For me Absynth was the main reason to get NI Komplete , i thought they would add other synth like this one - but to no avail - i am a pad enthusiast, that is why Absynth was so appealing to me. I still use it in my current projects, and i like the mutate feature quiete a lot - i wish other synth would get those features aswell.

Also the last demo he did with Absynth showed its capabilitys - i dont know where i get this glas sounding high frequency pads with this etheral quality somewhere else.

Well, for the most part i use omnisphere, but its really sad that they dont upgrade Absynth for M1 , i doubt that it would be so much work to recompile it for M1.

I wont upgrade the NI Komplete, as i dont use it that much. Maschine is somewhat more fun today with the upgraded song mode, but i went back to Abelton Live, it would be anyway the final stage.

I would pay for an upgraded Absynth.
