Sorry to false advertise but I need some help, and it’s probably simple!
Here’s a post I put up a few days ago :
Hello all-
I am having trouble saving a project.
I go into the GLOBAL menu and it does not give me a PROJECT option… It only reads from top to bottom:
GLOBAL SLOT
SYNTH COFIG
MIDI CONFIG
CV CONFIG
SYSEX DUMP
and
OS UPGRADE
Am I missing something? Was it erased? Is this option only in the most recent OS?
NOTE: I have not updated to the most recent OS as of yet… I would like to save the project first… Is there another way?
Thanks for helping,
E
WOW—
I wish someone would help here…
Oh well…
On another note, I decided to try and just update the OS but I can’t find any SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS on how to do it… Good god, can’t Elektron just have an easy to see instruction on how to update the OS???
The SYSEX thing on the A4 seems so RIDICULOUS…
Like I may as well be using DOS or some Amiga computer.
Makes me want to just stick it on a shelf and forget it.
At least the Octotrack just plugs in USB and you just swap files easy…
Feel like driving a pick ax through this thing.
Maybe as a tag line I should write something more exciting next time.
Bummer
Sorry i have to ask… what OS are you using?
YES! Sorry!!!
OS 1.0
I can’t even seem to figure out how to update the OS…
The SYSEX thing just seems so completely archaic…
I don’t even give a crap whether I lose my entire project that is completely full at this point… I can’t seem to back it up…
My mind can fully grasp how to make great music on this thing but not the PAINFUL back-up update SYSEX thing…

You need to update your a4 to the current OS, it will activate the +Drive then you can save up to 128 Projects internally ( i would still recommend to back them up from time to time) . Using sysex isnt realy that painfull btw.
. Get c6 and the newest OS on the elektron site. Set your midi/usb wich is connected to the A4 via configure in c6. Set the A4 to recieve an OS update (global - OS update). Drop the OS file in c6 , highlight it and press send.
Backup your stuff works pretty much the same in the other direction, set c6 to recieve, send with the a4 (global - sysex dump).
Thanks all … So to sum up,
I was using the first OS and there indeed was NO project save option…
I have updated the OS to 1.1D and now the option is there.
Thanks for the help…

Glad to hear ! Yeah, the A4 had until OS 1.1 no ability to save Projects, you had basicly just one in the box, only option was to load/save them via sysex.
How do i restore my saved sysex projects back onto the A4?
I’ve tried sending from c6 and putting my A4 in receive anything mode. But nothing seems to come through.
