Newish Analog Rytm Demo

Just wanted to share this demo that almost flew under my radar (posted 6 days ago). I really feel like it showcases the Rytm’s features from a slightly different vantage point (sonically) than some other NAMM videos I’ve come across. It’s also obvious to me how much Cenk is really enjoying this new machine.

despite the background noise that was a great demo !

Thanks !

I really can’t afford the AR as I just added the A4 to the mix…but the more I look at it and hear it the more it is calling my name. My trinity would then be OT heart with the A4 and AR running through it.

FM BD may be enough for me to pull the trigger on this one

Great demo, so far the best i’ve heard (not soundwise obviously), but it gives a good feel of the workflow and sonic diversity. Let’s hope they design a lot of different instruments (since they can program the voices to act as different sound shapers) to choose from. If you add the scene and performance tricks(let’s hope they do it right) it will be an absolute unique and killer drummachine.

I can’t wait for sure!

What i find interesting is that he appeared to be triggering the FM bass drum from the rim shot (and chokeable) pad. So while I understand there to be discrete synthesis and circuit paths, there may indeed be some flexibility in how those paths are accessed.

Some nice hints at the end on what they are working on too.

Might it be that pad pressure can be mapped to parameters, ala A4’s performance mode?

this is awesome. best demo so far

Completely agree. When I first heard the FM BD being pushed in every demo I was like, meh. After seeing/hearing it in this video, I’ve completely changed my mind. When Cenk is pitching it up and down, it almost sounds like he’s tuning an upright bass (amazing). I’m also impressed by the bit reducer/low-pass filter combo on the samples. Sounds like they squeezed an OTO Biscuit in there. Now if only they would incorporate some basic sampling abilities via the audio in. With 4 min. long samples (as mentioned) what more would anyone need (other than MIDI sequencing of course ).

If it could do basic sampling that would take it to the next level.

the OT can sample pretty much anything you want to throw at it

When he first hits that FM bass drum, it sounds just like Front 242.

This increases my desire for a proper (non-NAMM, non-rushed) demo with clean sound.

That is a good demo skimming the surface of what we will be able to do with the Rytm. I’m so excited about using it with the Octatrack (in particular) I can barely contain myself.

Right on. With the predominance of AIRA demos that at least give clean, clear audio. . .
. . . where’s the follow-ups on the AR? Nothing. No sonicstate review, no Cenk-driven elektron product demonstration video - nothing. And to your post-NAMM point: the AR actually was physically there and playing!
I feel like it’s just fallen off a cliff or something. :joy:

Does feel wierd shops like DV247 are listing it like it about to drop yet we’ve heard nothing new since the announcements at NAMM. Is there musicmesse coming up or something? Maybe there waiting for that. x

I nearly sold my Tempest last week with rytm lust :frowning: that would have been silly!! I realise I don’t not want Tempest I just want RYTM.

I bet these retailers don’t have the faintest idea when the Rytm will drop and they will just say there’s a hold up at the manufacturers once they have taken your money for a pre order.

It seemed that at NAMM that the OS still had a bit of a way to go before it is ready. Whole facets weren’t even implemented (eg. scenes), and there were an awful lot of grey boxes on the display suggesting the editing controls and mapping hadn’t yet been decided on.

Seems reasonable that they don’t give it to reviewers like sonicstate until they are happy.

Agree. Imagine not knowing better and paying up for an imaginary release date?! I’d be gutted.

Not a big deal for me. The preorder can easily be cancelled and a refund issued.
