Newbie: More than 16 steps

Hi,

With the Octatrack, I can see there are 16 buttons, what If I wanted to create a sequence that was longer than that…is it possible?

there are 4 “pages” of sixteen steps = 64.

also, by using tempo multipliers/divisions you can use triggered sample material up to 8 times that duration = 32 bars at 4/4 whilst maintaining 16th divisions on the tracks set to master tempo each step on your tempo divided track would then be 2 x 1/4 beats.

And if that slow playback sounds restrictive, keep in mind that you also have microtiming and retriggering. Even at the most extreme multiplier that gives you one precisely timed note for every 2 beats, plus up to 7 additional triggers per note (although I don’t use those too much because they’re not as precise)

Perhaps obvious by now, but I mention it anyway for any other newbies out there. Function button is the primary of “combo”-buttons to reach secondary function of the other buttons where it’s possible (indicated with text of different color).

Also pattern chaining allows you to chain multiple 64 step patterns to play one after the other.
