New to the family, just got my A4

After lusting over it for many years, finally was able to grab an a4, sold a DSI mopho x4 to fund it, I’ve only had it for half a day but definitely don’t have any regrets.

Fell in love with the A4 sound at NAMM many years ago, and now I’m remembering why.

Such an organic sound, I’m a fanatic for soft/ambient sounds and pads, A4 does this easy!

I know it’s super flexible and can do pretty much anything you want, but I really wanted it for these types of sounds…at least to start

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, I’ve been lurking around here for a while, finally registered once I knew I had my A4 on the way.

Any suggestions or things I should look out for as a new user feel free to share!

welcome saintjoe

I came from Maschine, went to AR and A4, never had any regret…
although… for hiphop, you will be more happy with maschine pads.

suggestion… make a lot of hours… to create a routine. I think the strength of elektron is in the workflow and the amazing sound.

Another suggestion. Explaining something helps you to understand something much better  Some video tutorials about elektron equipment will be very welcome. I love your NI stuff.

welcome - best advice i can think of is to read the forum front to back, lots of insightful stuff - bit like a missing manual, lots to learn from doing that and trying to answer questions too - accelerates the understanding - get Druma

Hey bro!
Yeah, I’ve already got my eyes on the Octatrack and Rytm, really like the live looping capabilities of the Octatrack, it’s the same way I work with my hardware in Ableton, looping live audio. And the Rytm is just nice
I definitely plan to have all 3 at some point, for now, I’ll be digging into this. You know I’ll be doing videos, I’m just going to document my journey as I go along, from the basics to sharing whatever else I learn on this thing.

Thanks, definitely looking forward to diggin in!

After the first Elektron hit, you’re hooked. The A4’s bomb, but I’m willing to bet another machine is in your near future. Welcome to Elektron

Welcome!

Definitely take time to get to know the A4 on its own. It will certainly help to know it well once you get the Rytm, as they are incredibly similar in workflow and file/patch system.

^Some great inspiration and starting points to be found in these.

The 5 day forecast calls for more A4!

welcome to the forum! …

Welcome SJ! It’s good to see you here.

I’ve been an MT member for a few years and have always appreciated your brand of support and fellowship in all of your projects.

Hope you have helpful and entertaining experiences here and with your A4.

Welcome! Your vids helped me a great deal with Maschine - it was thanks to Maschine that I ended up back in the groove music wise so you played a part!

You’ll definitely be lusting badly for another Elektron box soon enough. I have 4 of them now - all purchased within about 18 months of getting an OT!

The A4 is a great unit to start with though. It instantly sounds amazing and coupled with the Elektron sequencer will have you churning out arp like patterns, cool bass lines, beats too. If there was a polychain option I would be getting hold of an A4 to go with my AK!

As everyone has said - this forum is a gold mine for tips and tricks. Just whatever you do DO NOT ASK ABOUT MIDI OUT …!!!

:+1: :joy:

Welcome !
Try to make sounds from the bottem - up yourself instead of using presets. ENJOY !!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Greatest tip has allready been given by Avantronica.

Welcome saintjoe! As some other guys have already mentioned, your Maschine tutorials are great and have been useful to me

It won’t take long before the Elektron way of doing things becomes clear, I hope you start doing some Elektron vids!

The A4 is a great entry point to the Elektron world, especially as it has Overbridge. It can play nicely with Maschine and Ableton (or whatever DAW you are using) which is a very new feature and is seriously cool.

Happy tinkering!

Most definitely is, already have my eyes on them lol. Thanks!

Yeah I’m just having fun and digging in right now, really impressed and haven’t had this much fun in a LONG time. Definitely a fan.
Thanks for the welcome!

Indeed it does!

Thanks!

Appreciate the support fam! And I’m loving this thing! Been wanting it for a loooooooooong time lol

Glad to have helped at some point! Yeah, I’m in love, poly chain would be amazing! I definitely will be having more Elektron in my setup, I haven’t had this much fun on a sequencer in a very long time. They really put some magic in this little box. It just makes you want to play it!

Hahaha, I will make sure to keep that in mind! Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome and I’m glad to have helped! I plan to start doing vids right away, just showing stuff as I learn, that way others that are new will have a reference point

Man…when I opened the box and saw “This machine is only the beginning…” I should have known I was in trouble right then. Moments after turning it on…I knew that was true!

Thanks again to everyone for the replies, still learning my way around the forum so I didn’t get any email notifications even though I’m subscribed to the topic
