It’s already happening, innit? Again, look at Polyend Endless. Whether we love or hate it, that’s moot. If the market direction is heading there and who knows? Maybe it will fail. But by the looks of it, whether one asks for it or not, that mod firmware scene is already happening and M-Wave just announced they approve of these mods.

It’s not about outsourcing the development, although, I’ll argue some of the latest hardware releases it feels like we are the paying beta testers anyway. And I am not suggesting my framework is correct, but whether it works or not, we don’t know. But it’s already happening. M-Wave just OK’d mod firmwares for their hardware. There are precedents already. Look at the App Store and iOS. Maybe TE runs a firmware store on top of their hardware sales, and pre-approve these mods? As for the current engineers and coders in TE, I guess there’s proof that updates can come faster using AI as a tool, and maybe their jobs will pivot to mod firmware checkers.

Anyway I’m just sharing IMHO, what could possibly happen. I’m not some tech or music industry expert. Probably just a load of garbage what I just said.
