That does look that way and I’m not sure either way but I thiiiink that link is specifically the terms for their web site store. I think that the service through https://support.teenage.engineering would apply to any product purchased through retail channels. But it is mysteriously opaque.
Sorry if I came off as jerky, didn’t mean that before. I do have experience working in high-end consumer electronic support and it would extremely unusual to not support products bought through consumer retail channels
Here’s further details from the FAQ in the support pages. They’re very clear about warranties re: items bought from resellers:
i purchased my unit from a retailer, who do i contact?
if the unit is covered by warranty: in this situation, you are covered by your reseller warranty & repair terms and conditions. we invite you to contact their customer support directly and they will assist you in getting your unit fixed or replaced.
So anyone buying a TE product in the US from a retailer would be wise to: (1) know what warranty policy the retailer has; and (2) purchase with a credit card that extends the warranty period.
Retailer warranty policies differ from retailer to retailer, so buyer beware!
Well, color me corrected! Did some googling and it looks like the retailers act as agents for TE so TE still does the repair/replacment but just don’t deal direct with consumer (I think. still can’t find much specific info)
This is very often how it works indeed, as mentioned above if you hand out a piece of the cake to distributors and retailers they should take some of the responsibility as well
i took my son to see the pixar elio movie and was interested to see the TE choir as the alien voices.
my son liked the movie… i was terribly bored, though usually pixar is fun enough sometimes. but motstly it was hilarious that the extra control over the choir dolls as the voices rendered them completely unrecognizable! so it was a big letdown to hear the end result in the movie actually.
Even the old Z visual engine would have been a great “retro” addition to the current XY features. And If they wanted to improve the engine later, that can still be done later. A missed opportunity I feel. Even Apple albums now have moving visuals.
