I got a new Rytm MkII on Friday, 3 days ago. Pretty much immediately I noticed the BD 1 Pad double triggers quite often. It’s also really sensitive compared to the other pads.

It triggers with the lightest touch. If I leave my finger on it and apply pressure it triggers again (sometimes double).

The SD 2 Pad next to it doesn’t do this at all. It needs quite a firm tap to trigger and doesn’t trigger again if applying pressure to the pad.

The RS 3 Pad is similar to the BD 1 Pad but not quite as sensitive and doesn’t double trigger as often.

All the other pads are more like SD 2 and need a firm-ish tap. This also is a bit inconsistent across the pads and they will trigger at different strengths of tap.

This is all with an empty kit / default blank project and there’s no MIDI loop

Is my unit faulty?
Is this normal and the pad sensitivity is just not very good?
Will the pads break in over time and become more consistent across them all?

I did contact Support on Friday but haven’t heard back.

That is certainly not normal behaviour, all the pads should require the same force to trigger. Only a MkI user here but out of all the gear i’ve owned with pads the Rytm lands at the very bottom in terms of responsiveness and reliable velocity. Mine has gotten better with use but still wouldn’t rely on it for live finger drumming compared to my MPC.

Sounds like you may have a fault, I would open a ticket with Elektron and see if they have any quick recommendations to try before sending it back.

Thanks for confirming.

It’s going back for refund as they don’t have any more stock. So I’ll buy again from somewhere else.
