Some good friends of mine have designed this wonderful real wood case along with an adapter to allow you to hook up 1/4" cables directly to your OP-1. Serious quality and design, lots of work went in to this so I am really excited to hear what you guys think.
Generally I am not a fan of the wood look, but the aesthetics and attention to detail of the case parallel the genius of the OP-1 itself. The case has been designed with careful attention to material and form to match the geometry and overall aesthetics of the OP-1. There’s also a slot in the top part of the case to stand up an iPad
Here are the details from the website (where you can preorder the case + adapter for $229) http://www.pendeo.org/
OP-1 SOLID WOOD CASE DETAILS:
A solid wood case and included Monolith adapter for the Teenage Engineering OP-1.
-Machined from solid Burmese Teak
-Included Monolith adapter allows vertical access to 1/4" input and output connectors, as well as USB mini data port
-Cable channel milled into inside of case for storage of TE USB cable
-8 rare-earth magnets allow easy opening and closing while providing a strong seal
-Precision machined angled ipad/tablet slot
-Rubberized anti-slip feet -Felt lining for pressure fit and shock protection
Very proud to have a tiny bit of involvement in this project Having seen the prototypes and handling it in person I can safely say that you NEED this for your OP-1.
While this looks amazing and I especially like the adapter, it seems that the case does not close with the adapter installed?
This means you have to take out the adapter to close the case which does not prolong the life of the built in IO as stated in the details. This means you in fact have to wear out 6 IOs including USB each time you use it. This also means you need to put the adapter in something else for transport rather them leaving everything in tact?
Perhaps I’m wrong and I’m not seeing something here, but this would be the only thing holding me back from purchase. Both are really great ideas though and look amaZing.
Working on a little giveaway for the case and adapter as well, so for those a little strapped for cash there will be some opportunities to win these guys
@GovernorSilver yes the iPad slot can handle some heavy touching. I made a little video of my massive hands tapping the screen much harder than I normally would. Keep in mind the slot is milled into a piece of solid hardwood and that the wood has a good weight. All that said you may really like wail hard on your Lemur patches!
