all the other rows are OK

i’ve reseated card and it is certainly all the way in.
i’ve looked at the pins and they seem good, none missing nor clearly bent
i don’t have a card reader or second card…but i have ordered those from amazon so may be able to check with those tomorrow…as I hope it is just the card they included is bad! is that common?

what else could it be? this was the last octatrack the vendor had in stock so i’d like to avoid sending back if possible :frowning:

demo mode works and i get sound etc so the unit appears otherwise good

i hope ive exceeded on the noob checks,i did a good googling first before coming here

Hope the card reader itself isn’t broken to be honest. I would say check the new card and be gentle to get in there. The OT is known for easily “brake” the card reader. If it then doesn’t work go back to the store.

On the contrary i think testing the existing card in the card reader would be my first port (the reader will be cheaper than a CF card) … if the card is fine, then you know where the issue is and the bought card can be returned unopened - if the og card mounts, then maybe (at your risk, if returning though) copy data off of it and reformat it Fat and try once again with the blank card.

If the og card is no go then you can test the new card (assuming compatibility) to see if the OT is fine, but you won’t know the source of the card corruption

Create an account at Elektron if the og card is faulty and see if they can help you out with the content/card if the store can’t replace the ot/card for you

thanks, i’ve ordered both a card reader and a new card…will test existing card in reader, and new card in Octa.

hopefully the card that came from octa box is the problem and not the brand new octa…

now i am glad i did not book tomorrow off work…woulda been a waste lol

i had my girl check the pins with a torch, her eyes are better than mine. she also agreed none look bent or missing

FYI this is all brand new today. so i had no data on the CF etc

it was all new our box today

the CF card would have factory content on it - that’s what i meant that you could copy if there was a hint that it was a minor corruption, but was somehow readable by the CF card reader

Hopefully this is just a random dodgy card and a quick go at reading it will point you towards the next steps to take

When the card is okay, my next guess is that the internal ribbon cable connecting the reader to PCB is loose. This shouldn’t but can happen due to the vibrations during transportation.

but i cannot tackle that without a ware tee void correct ?

I would at least contact the seller or Elektron support on how to proceed.
