I predict a device that has a beta firmware and endless threads on here full of bugs and requests.
Actually I hope it isnāt like that , unless theyāre upfront about planned updates and stick to a release schedule.
Ughhhhā¦ I thought I found a cheaper replacement for an Octatrack but now I realize there is no replacement for an Octatrack.
It seems unlikely that this new machine will be the Octa 2, but I sure wish theyād confirm that. I want (maybe need??) an Octatrack but man would I be pissed if I bought one only to see a new version come right out.
Not that it means much to Elektron but dammit, you are holding my spending money hostage! I wish there was an affordable gear rental website so I could at least wet my whistle while I wait for this painful/irritating teaser crap to finally be overā¦Also, Iām not rich so this is probably the last purchase for awhile. If the DeepMind comes out first, Iāll probably end up with that even though itās not an octatrack.
Just a get a used Octatrack and enjoy it while knowing that it will retain 100% of its resale value, in the improbable event that Elektron reneges on its public statements that this wonāt be an Octatrack MkII.

Thatās what I did.
A mixer/recorder thing seems possible, but Iām holding out for a physical modelling synthesizer. It will be a very similar to a Monomachine but with no Virtual Analog, FM or Drum sample machines at all, just different types of physical modeling synths sort of similar to a lot of the machines on the OP-1.
It fits the video really well.
Plus, I think a lot of Elektron box users are super into Ambient / Drone type stuff and sequencing this type of synthesis Elektron style will work really well. And there is little competition in this type of synthesis.
It also would make sense to discontinue the MnM if you are going to sell this type of box. It is not a MnM 2, but there is overlap. Meanwhile selling a mixer / fx box and the Octa at the same time while possible is a bit self defeating. Octa sales will decline a lot I think especially since many will sell there Octas to fund this machine simply because a lot of Octa users are really focused on the mixing / fx side of that box (rightly or wrongly)
This would allow them to keep the Octa around a little longer and make an Octa 2 a bit later in the life cycle, then they could basically split the Octa into 2 devices 1) a mixer / host / fx box and 2) and sampler / midi controller. Well they could do that anyway now, but it might put off a new digital synth box for quite awhile longer and I feel there is more opportunity there. Also, they donāt have to split the Octa (I suppose), but I feel all the functions of having a sampler / mixer / midi controller in one box is too much.

i doubt octatrack 2 would ever be announced while they still have version 1 stock.
for that type of device theres still nothing to match it.
looking forward to whatever it is, iāll probably buy it.
OT2 would be like winning lottery. But just like the lotto, we know itās not gonna happen. No use getting hopes up.
Shit, I donāt even need to know what this thing is. Iād take another teaser just as ambiguous as the first. Anything!

My guess, Monomachine MKIII with overbridge + performance macro controls.
Do you know if the warranty stays with the unit? I.e. if I buy a 1 year old Octa, do I inherit the 2 years remaining?
If not, I have to buy new as I donāt like taking the risk.
Yes you do get the remaining 2 years if you register it w .Elektron.

Your warranty depends on the place you buy. I.e. Thomas has warranty for the buyer only, Bax has warranty for everyone

Yep. My kids are awake and theyāre watching Gumball. Iām about to make breakfast and maybe coffee (not entirely sure about that last one though). Wifeās still sleeping, mind you. Think weāre going out today.
And tomorrow, vacations in Sweden are mostly over, schools open again. So thereās that, too.
