I’m super surprised! I’ve purchased a lot of Elektron gear new and have had 0 issues, I don’t know how this one slipped through the cracks but yeah - can’t believe it! I got it from a well-known online retailer in the US but it’s not like they broke the seal and investigated it, so it’s not on them so I won’t name names lol.

I found a very small spec of tobacco on the inside of the machine, but outside the actual display on a Digitakt once.

Black, I had a perfectly fine Grey but wanted to swap since I picked up a Rytm MKII in black also. (Updated the title too).

I haven’t yet, I’m currently chatting with the retailer and hoping they’ll do a replacement. They no longer have them on their site (I think due to stock issues) so I’m a little nervous that I won’t get a replacement at the same pricing (it was tricky to begin with).
You can unscrew the casing and wipe it off yourself. Surprising miss on inspectors part, but it happens. Just sucks when yiur the person who hits the ugly jackpot. At least it’s something you can quickly fix yourself and not something you have to ship off and wait for.

OH REALLY? I didn’t know I thought it would be more intense than that… I just hope it’s grease and not glue or something “hard”. I’ll report back tomorrow after I get some time to look into it.

You’ll have to remove all knobs, dissemble the casing, then remove some ribbons probably, then unscrew the board from the top casing. I’m assuming. (I might be wrong and I might be an ass) I thought I had debris inside the screen of a black Octatrack I ordered and I tore it apart thinking I’d be able to blow it out with air. Turns out it was a scratch… I wasn’t taking all the ribbons and boards apart to get to the screen to inspect any further.

The glass is glued to the sides around the display and can be exchanged. Get in touch with the support, they will send you a new one for free.

General rule in retail is that you get a replacement of a product at the same price you paid.
You should not be paying anything additional for your replacement if the price has gone up for some reason
Unless you bought a B-stock than it is different.
If you would have to pay the difference between the b-stock and the price of new

That happened to me last week too! The box was also very broken, although it was packed again.
Fortunately, the scratches were gone after removing the foil.

Send it back and get a new one that’s in proper order. In the long run you’ll be glad you did.
