Need some references and influences when it comes to The B-52s

I have in mind Planet Claire (Psychedelic and Craziness are important)

Rock, New Wave, Psychedelic, Space & crazy, Fun, Strange
What’s come to your mind when I speak about this musical environment ?

I have in mind first The B-52’s, Kate Bush also in a way

What other band the B-52’s “planet claire” make you think of ?

@Scot_Solida your hints interest me ? maybe a whole bunch of band and project you will have in mind ? rock + synth : psychedelic and hypnotic experimentation, cosmic…

Thanks to everyone who share text, even video to get inspiration in this musical environment of "Planet Claire"

I think to:
5.6.7.8’S (THE) / WOO HOO, The Runaways, April March, Scout Niblett, Lunachicks,
Joy Division (for the man sing part)
Nena, Pink Floyd, Magma, Bjork…

Gang of Four is my absolute favorite!
And also the Talking Heads to spot the obvious

Some of my favorites are Sparks, Tuxedomoon, Bill Nelson’s Red Noise, A Flock of Seagulls, Shriekback, Hunters and Collectors (first two albums), Tone Set, Tones on Tail, Strawberry Switchblade, Wall of Voodoo (early stuff) The Tubes… the list is quite long, actually, ranging from goofy stuff to darker, moodier. Oh yeah, The Moodists.

Thanks @Scot_Solida

In the Talking Heads direction of things I’d add Tom Tom Club and more recently Parallel Dance Ensemble.

Beta Band for something more late 90s flavoured.

Love the beta band! Underrated as hell.

The Go-Gos is another.

(Lyrically not really up there with the B-52s…)

The Slits too, thinking of the psychedelic/craziness aspect.

Oh absolutely. And “When I’m With You” is as near perfect a synthpop song as has ever been written. I have loved Sparks for four decades. Still do.

Not connected directly, but I can see a path from B52s to Dodgy https://youtu.be/a3gtYXm4Hgo and maybe Supergrass https://youtu.be/qUE4oDunYkc?
I love the beta band too.

The Beta Band are only underrated by people who’ve never listened to the Beta Band, and their opinion is worthless :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
