Hello everyone,My A4 has a issue today on screen, today morning everything is ok,I’m play with A4.but tonight when I open it,ths screen have this issue.I try to reset factory and change another power jack.the issue still here.can somebody tell me something about it?
I had a gameboy 1997 that looked just like that, probably the same type of screen to be honest;P
I think it needs to be replaced:(
Contact Elektron and create a support ticket.
…that’s two broken display lines…and they won’t return…
my mpc screens showed that kind of symptoms after a few years, too…
pretty common thing…and no big deal, since these kind of oldschool standard displays, elektron keep on using, are pretty cheap and easy to replace…
Recently had a simular thing with my octatracks screen goign corrupted.
It was fixed by opening the unit and removing the 3 wited connectors , blowing out the dust and reconnecting everything, ( there r very easy to disconnect) in all it took about 10 mins and def worth trying if ur warranty has run out, there is a vid on youtube somewhere that shows exactly how to do it ,but its not hard to do
Maybe that will fix it for u
…sounds good…
and this might be also a good place to ask for for nice, dark and sexy oled displays to built in as standard in future elektron machines…
and by the way…can i have something like an a4 octatrack rytm combi twister sister model…?..a mk2 ot a4 rytm monomachine in one machine…4 stereo track decks, 4 drum voices, 4 synth voices, 4 monoengines all under one roof with an oled display on top of it all…
something like an op16, made in sweden and not by teenage engineering…?
seeing the same here today on my AK for the second timethis year, first occurred a couple months back but went back to normal on its own til now.
pixels aren’t actually dead, they’re just… selective?? here’s a vid…
test mode shows this…
i guess a new screen is due…
You could try re-seating the internal connectors, as suggested further up the thread. I’ve had to do this a couple of times on my Octatrack MkI. It takes 5 minutes.
Oh ok thanks, missed that post. Will give it a try.
[edit] all cables reseated, cleaned etc, no change unfortunately. not a 5-min job with the AK - took a while as the keybed is proper fiddly. At least I got that crumb from under the screen
It’s the Swedish flag!
You have found a hidden feature.
I’m joking but I’m sorry for your concern.
Ohhhh, Analog KEYS, I didn’t notice that. Well, sorry this didn’t help with your problem! Worth a try though
check for cracked solder joints on the screen assembly. you can reheat the solder join to fix it if that’s the problem. otherwise you’ll probably have to replace the screen`
Did you end up replacing the screen? My AK started having the same issue tonight ![]()
Any other tips out there for this? I’m open to having the screen replaced (but won’t be soldering it myself)
Here is a nice replacement screen and information how to replace it. The screen have faster update aswell.
OLED display for Elektron Mk1 Analog devices (Four, Heat, Keys, Rytm)
The OLED linked there is really very nice. AK is a b**** to disassemble (not too difficult, but so many fasteners…). My advice is, if you do take it apart to try anything, if you happen to have any sluggish / wonky encoders you should take the opportunity to clean them while it’s apart! I forgot to do this when replacing my screen and I kicked myself later for not having done.
Well I’ve now totally fucked mine up because one of the LEDs near the joystick was broken and I can’t get it to boot up anymore. Not sure if the broken LED is the cause or not, but is there any way to get a replacement part like that? Or would Elektron repair an opened and modified device? At this point I’m out of ideas and just want my synth back in working order.
