Need help Connecting Elektron boxes to iPad and Scarlet 2i2

Hi guys. So I’ve got a Scarlett 2i2 that I want to use as an audio interface and a ST and DN I want to connect to my iPad.

There are two connection options I know would work: 1) Route audio from one of the Elektron boxes into the 2i2 and connect the ipad separately to the 2i2 via USB. 2) Just do away with the Scarlett and connect both ST and DN into the ipad directly either in series or parallel.

However, I really want to make use of the Scarlett audio interface while also being able to receive MIDI from ST/DN into the iPad. Is there any way this is doable with what I have without buying additional gear? I have a MIDI hub with 3 USBC inputs and all the necessary adapters.

Would it work if I connect the audio out of either ST/DN to the 2i2 while simultaneously connecting ST/DN to the iPad to send MIDI via USB? I need the ipad to record knob tweaks as automation.

Thanks

Set usb to midi only on both ET devices, connect audio out from one device to the inputs on the other ET and mix them together in the mixer page.
Connect the output of the elektron that sums both devices into the scarlet line inputs and connect all (3) devices with usb to hub. Hub to ipad. Now scarlett handles the audio and the midi is accessible via USB.

Thanks so much for the helpful tutorial!
I’ll try this next time I’m near my Elektrons
