By the way what abbreviation shall we use for the Native Instruments Kontrol Series S Mk3 Keyboard ? I’m completely worn out typing this mess of a name.
ADDED : This thread title needs a revamp too. Ideas ?
Any experiences with M1/M2 and logic pro? I read something about double midi notes being sent?
Thoughts on korg keystage vs kontrol mk3? I got the impression from loopop that the mk3 had a better feel to it.
Anybody played rev2 vs mk3 and have thoughts on playing feel? I like the rev2 keybed.
Im going mostly back in the box and want a nice playing midi controller and i also just began messing with komplete 11 full version and its got some amazing stuff.
A shame they haven’t made any improvements to the stand-alone mode . This is really only useful connected to a computer.
Let’s hope Novation’s model is going to have a great keybed.
EDIT:
They’re working on implementing Play Assist (e.g. scale, chord, arp) on device, agnostic of the host. I hope this inlcudes light guide and zones.
I’ve been hoping to see more built-in audio interfaces in controllers for a long long time actually. It’s such a great feature to have. But seems like hardly any company is interested.
They are also planning a MIDI template system.
I’m very interested in having this as a master keyboard where I can hook up all my hardware synths around my room and control directly from the keyboard in front of my monitors.
If they do it right, this might be the perfect midi controller for me
I personally don’t like playing melodic pads, so I haven’t tried the Launchpad.
Granted, I reckon the NI Komplete to be a more general tool and most of its umph is navigating/editing presets, so 8 won’t fault them for kit including it.
But dang would I like it if that feature became included(which i can’t see it ever happening)
But yeah, it would be pretty hard to choose between the two.
While it would be convenient to have the button right on the keyboard for saving random jams- its helpful to me that im a lousy keys player that would get minimal benefit from such a feature(also, I have a Push 2 and my laptop just above my KK2) so if I wanted to experience immediate regret- I already have an immediate means of doing that
Native Instruments is well positioned with these MIDI 2.0 controller products, now that Korg has announced the new desktop / rackmount versions of the Modwave, Wavestate, and Opsix, that all support MIDI 2.0 with property exchange,
Native Instruments does need to move quickly to take advantage of the changing market environment, but they can potentially be the top controller in this market, at least for the time being.
But has there been any news about these “big plans” Native Instrument teased when the mk3 was revealed?
Anything at all?
Seriously, I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the mk3 for a more direct sound design approach to ITB sounds- but is this following the predictable trend of NI having a big mouth and tiny hands?
