Mysterious new AR picture

less mysterious in this one …

I resized and rotated that image. The fifth button above the pads seems to read “Perf” consider me excited

In that area it looks like FX, mute, chromatic, performance, and something else. It seems as if those buttons are directly related to the pads (mute, chromatic etc…)

i’m looking at it as it’s an A4 without the 12 (13) trigger keys and with sampling capabilities…most of the labeling is almost the same as the one on the A4. looks like there won’t be single outputs (am i right?)
i want to see/hear more…c’moooon! :sob:

…hang on, am i missing something here or am i just gone dumb?! no track selection buttons?

Surely one of the functions of the pads?

looks like tracks are selected with the pads… and there are 8 individual outs.
check out that other thread (AR vido bla…)

damn those pads are like hobbit sized

and yeh the top function button is “track” and the bottom function button is “retrig”! ha cant believe i was able to read that blurry shit from the video screen cap last week… actually just kidding i didnt read it im just psychic :alien:

I note he is playing it with his left hand ;)[/quote]
yea, and I am right handed - its a miracle right?

…in few hundreds years, evolution will happen so that we’ll all have four fingers… perhaps we’ll all be left handed as well
any connection between Elektron and NASA?!?! :alien: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Lets see you do this with your left hand on those small pads dataline

It’s become obvious to me I’ll have to control the ARs pads with an MPD to get what I want out of the machine. No biggie, but still a bit of a pain in the ass, also please just admit it Cenk, the pads are on the wrong side for actual finger drummers (as in people who play live without using a sequencer) that want to play beats and twist knobs at the same time.

On pads 16ths are played mainly with right hand, 32nds played and knobs twisted with left hand that’s how a lot of us right handed “live” finger drummers do it.

Personally I tend to play kicks, snares & hats with my right hand and bass /synth lines with my left hand or buckwild with left handed knob twisting.

Yeah, what kind of fool puts the buttons on the left?!

Why should I do that? If I had interest in finger drumming, I would stop complaining and make the best of what the unit offers.

Maschine, MPC and AR are very different units

No doubts I will, its just a shame we haven’t been taken into account when this unit was designed. Considering the pressure sensitive pads and all. Elektron makes its first machine that has playable pressure sensitive pads and then forgets to take into account to the people who will make best use of those pads sensitivity.

I get the feeling you guys didn’t talk to many fingerdrummers (if any) when designing the thing, which is a shame for the fingerdrumming community.

You’ll note the actual live tweaking slider is on the left of the pads here (as it is on all subsequent MPC designs). IE: this design is easy to play primarily right handed and still tweak that slider with your left. The AR not so much.

everytime you want to finger drum, just walk around your table or turn your AR upside down. Problem Solved!
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

or if you really are that passionate about this, there was a guy who was doing custom face plates for the OT on this board. You could get him to make you one with all the functions reversed and see if he can flip the LCD for you.

Adaptation is key, hell it’s part of evolution :alien:

"A drum set can be arranged for left-handed or right-handed drummers, but it may make little more than a cosmetic difference to a drummer who studies technique. Why? Because most drummers learn independence, where each hand is supposed to pretty much be able to do what the other one does."

A right-handed swordsman prefers to chop across to the left…

RIP the fingerdrumming community

To be fair I still have my MPC, Tempest and Maschine. It would just be nice if I could play the AR in the same way I play all my other gear with pads :frowning:
