Hello. I just turned on my Analog Keys for the first time in about a week and for some reason some things were changed. On one pattern it was missing a single note from a sequence. On another pattern, 3/4 of the sounds of the kit were the default sound. I tried reloading the kit and it still didn’t work. I even made two versions of these projects, one as backup and both projects were affected the same way. Luckily I had already recorded these songs, and it was also relatively easy to fix, but I’m still a little concerned. I’m like 90% sure it was not a user error. I am using a older OS. 1.23 I think. Anyone else ever had this problem?
Depends in the moon.
Did you properly saved kit and pattern?
I’m like 95% sure I did. With the first pattern I know I did for sure, but I might have just accidentally turned off that note at some point. But the kit, again, I’m like 90% sure I saved it properly. It is also possible that I forgot to save the kit before working on a different song with a different kit, but I had turned it off and back on several times and the kit stayed the same then.
and i think it IS 90% user error ![]()
joking aside, i guess it is easy to get confused with the complex kit and pattern structure and between the saving and reloading, it often happens to me too, albeit i have a fairly good understanding of the machine… but unless you can provide a specific test method for trying to reproduce the error consistantly, i do not think we can help…
I also do not think firmware is an issue here, but I have the latest version installed on my a4 and it is rock solid for me…
Yeah the more I think about it the more I think I just accidentally f’d up lol
What do you mean save the pattern, aren’t patterns auto saved to that project? I thought the save pattern function (or YES+PTN) was only there to allow you to mess and recall patterns.
I don’t have A4 anymore, don’t want to say something wrong. Someone else may give an answer…
Everytime I had this issue and it happen quite a lot of time : pattern with default sound on some track.
It was related to the kit which was saved a first time, then I forget to save it again when the pattern was fully finished.
So the note were saved into the pattern, because it’s done by default but the kit was not up to date.
I must admit, that the Elektron way of saving pattern directly and not the kit is error prone.
Today everytime I make subtle or meaningful change on a kit I saved it.
And saved project before shutting down the unit.
This. Wrong sounds in my case are always the result of me not saving the kit and switching to a new one when I should have.
I really miss kits on the DN/ST machines sometimes but I don’t miss the trouble that comes with them.
