My ghetto-3-tier-stand :P

Strapped for cash and in need of a stand…

Got myself a piece of MDF board and some bolts - total cost: Around 7€ and spent an afternoon whipping this thing up from scratch
Not the prettiest - no fancy paint job, laser engravings or lovely details… and it is sorta bulky haha… but it does the job (for now)!

I know most stands sold have special screws that only go in the exact length. Hope you were careful when mounting those, it’s looks great!

I read somewhere here that the screws should not go in more than 3mm tops - so I made sure they don’t (note the washers on the side )
So far things are still working (fingers crossed) hahaha

you mean if it tips over?? It’s a rather heavy construction with all the machine mounted, but yeah you probably have to watch it a bit if you really get going
Normally I have it pushed against the wall though. A solution could be to cut it so it has some “support flaps” on the back

Untill now i allways construct for 2 machines. I was afraid that the third one will be too high and does involve difficulties to keep the arms up. Isn’t it too exhaustive to play your MD for long jam ?

well it is pretty high - but I think it is OK for me. Also I placed the machines according to how much use each gets.
Actually I could have made it a bit lower than it is, by taking off a bit in the bottom and moving the machines a bit closer. But I wanted sufficient space between them so I could work the cables from the front. If you use angled midi and audio cables you can get them even closer I guess and thereby lower.
To find the right angle, depth and height for me I cut out paper boxes the size of my machines + the space I wanted for cables and arranged them on a table until I had something I felt was right. I then cut out the entire side in paper 1:1 to see if things were to my liking
You could do something similar to se if you can get a height that works for you, before buying or cutting anything…

I used the same paper simulation technique to figure my 2 machines stand. It’s the easiest way to really construct fonctional stand.
my intention is to construct a 3 machines stand in the same style, but with possibility to close it, like Buschla case. But for the moment i don’t have enough time to brain the model.

Not much of a carpenter or construction-handy-man-kinda-guy myself - I have to do stuff like this in paper mock ups - making a functional closing stand would probably be beyond my brain capacity though hahahahha

hey, yepp "tip over " is what i meant, especially when using the push+turn function… flaps for the win … nice design dude, thanks for showing!

np - just wanted to show my cheap & dirty version of a stand
By the way I just tested the push+turn function to see what happens… and even used a bit more force than usual… and it’s actually no problem at all, pretty rock solid, even with no flaps and the fact that I cut of the back end corners. I guess the weight of the machines and the 12mm board + how the lower ones are angled gives it enough resistance
