Very much still learning. As you can see I’m not doing a lot with it yet mostly playing back samples and sequences with a few fx manipulation here and there.
A goal is to learn to use the octatrack for more improvisation/manipulation so I can be doing a bit more with the track structure and sound manipulation.
Obviously dance music isn’t my main thing so I’m going to be exploring the octatrack for use in ambient/noise/industrial music in the future, although I do have some more techno/dance sideprojects in the works.
I like very much all the beginning of your set (the drone part). I prefer it to the orchestral part (from 10:00 to the end). Nice to ear dark sounds here: too much minimal techno usually…

I’m going to try do explain without being too long winded.
The first track uses individual samples triggered in 5 sequences by the octatrack. I am manipulating internal fx, pitch, filters, distortion and triggering some spoken samples. I have a pitch-fx LFO on the drums to add some variation and on the main distorted drone I am using the blend slider to change pitch and filter.
Second track is almost all just manually triggered samples and drones “played” by me. They were designed to be able to be played together at certain times in order to sound decent.
The more orchestral piece at the end is exported from my sequencer as 4 and 8 bar loops and then organized into sequences in the octatrack. Then I play them back in the order of my choosing as well as add vocals, some manual sampling triggers, and more fx manipulation.
