I start a new project and I believe it’s supposed to load with the factory kit. But mine appears to be BLANK. No sounds on any pad. How can I get the new projects to default as normal again? I know people are trying to do this deliberately…LOL but I’m not.
If the default samples are loaded on the pads, but the pattern is blank, I believe this is the expected (correct) behavior for the Digitakt when making a new project. If you want the factory patterns to be on a new project, you would need to copy the factory project to a new slot.
I’m not a Digitakt owner yet so someone please correct me if I’m mistaken.
The default for a new project on the original dt has the init kit or whatever you want to call it loaded on the trigs in the same order that the trig sounds are labeled, kick snare cowbell etc. Usually you have to store a template with the default samples unloaded from ram and load that as a new project every time if you want it to be that way from the start.
If it’s a dt1 and the behavior is that new projects have no default samples when you press the trigs, but the default samples are still loaded to the machine just not the trigs, then something is wrong. Maybe an incomplete reformat or the OS didn’t update correctly. Could even be something resulting from corrupted data, who really knows.
Did your dt have any projects on it already when you bought it? Also do the sample slots on the source page show “off” and the samples are still shown in the list? Or is each trig assigned an empty sample slot and the default kit is not in the sample pool at all?
If you’re talking about a dt2 then idk it might be normal, not sure on that.
I AM talking about a DII. Should have mentioned that. I have a project that I made that works just fine when I load it. And plays fine too. I thought there would be a way to re-load the patterns. It looks like they are blank. I can hear the default sounds on each trig but no pattern will play.
If I do factory reset do I lose all the samples I’ve loaded since I got the D2?
So, I guess I misunderstood, is the issue that the default demo project no longer has a sequence? Those are write protected so I’m not sure you could clear it even if you wanted to. Am I still not on the same page with you?
Yes! It’s the initial default demo project, correct. I agree it’s WRITE protected so how could I have messed it up? LOL If I switched banks I don’t know how I did that. How would I tell?
well even if you reload, it might reload to the current bank but restore prior settings, it won’t necessarily jump you back to the other bank. But, um let me look at a dt2 manual it’s just barely different enough that directions for one don’t exactly correspond to the other. Thanks elektron.
Anyways, it doesn’t mean that you’ve necessarily done that, but it’s one thing that is worth exploring.
Alright I just looked and I think you can choose a bank if you hold PTN and use the left and right arrows, if it shows it’s on anything other than A, switch to bank A. If that doesn’t work, just make sure the pattern is on pattern A1, you can probably confirm that just by pressing pattern and trig 1 together (if you’re on bank A).
Uh huh. It looks like bank A is BLANK. No patterns in there at all. SO, I’m guessing that’s why when I load it a kit I can hear the individual sounds but nothing plays. Thanks. That’s something, at least. Now, how would I get the patterns back to Bank A.? The other banks are empty too. But I think they come that way.
If it’s gone for reals then a factory reset should bring back the default project.
Make sure you read the thing, it gives you a general rundown of what to expect. The top of the page says it applies to digitakt even though its talking about analog 4 in the article. I assume you need to back up anything that you want to keep.
Yep…I was thinking it would go tis way. I have only one project I created and I’m not sure that’s even in 001 position. I don’t have any samples in Bank A at all, other than factory. So, sounds like the fastest to way to get back home. Thanks very much for your help. It’s appreciated.
Yup no problem, let me know if it works out for you. Based on the fact that the official information says the default project will load upon restart, I think you’ll know pretty quickly whether or not it worked!
Factory reset did not do any good. Well, have a support ticket out there so we’ll see. I’m sure it’s just a quick fix since all my other projects are fine. It’s the patterns that are missing in bank A. There are just none of them in the bank. I’m sure there’s a way to just reload them somehow.
Ah that’s super weird, it had a demo pattern that could be played when you first got it though right? I wonder if there’s something that I’m not seeing here. If elektron manages to fix it, let me know what it was that they did or had you do which was successfull.
