I doubt im the first one to want to do this but is there a way i can route the mkii’s mutes so when i mute say Track 1, it will also trigger my a4 mkii’s mute? So i can turn them on/off at the same time?

On the Qu24 mixer you can link two consecutive tracks and perform such double mute.
You could also use an external controller using MIDI CCs I guess.
But I don’t think you can do this with only the two Elektron Analog units.

Yes, you can easily do that.
- Connect the AR’s MIDI out to the A4’s MIDI in port.
- Go to AR’s MIDI Config>>Port Config and change Mute Dest to INT+EXT.
- Make sure the A4 is set to input from MIDI or MIDI+USB.
Now when you mute channels 1-6 on the AR, the corresponding channel on the A4 will be muted as well.
EDIT: Just wanted to mention that it will also work the other way around (A4>>AR), but you’ll only be able to mute channels 1-6 on the AR this way.

hello Udi9 i didn’t know that
so will it possible to use some of the A4 macros instead of the perfomance pad of the AR ?

Not directly.
The performance knobs on the A4 do send CC messages, but unfortunately they do not correspond with the CCs assigned to the performance pads of the AR.
If you have some kind of a MIDI re-mapper device/software, this can be done quite simply.
For a while I actually used my Blokas MIDIHub for this exact purpose and it worked great.
For reference, here are the CCs sent from the A4’s performance knobs:
A = CC3
B = CC4
C = CC8
D = CC9
E = CC11
F = CC64
G = CC65
H = CC66
I = CC67
J = CC68

When you hold function and press a pad on Rytm’s mute page, it turn’s blue, but it will only mute when the function button is released. For timed mutes, I just preselect all the tracks I want to mute on the Rytm and while still holding function, prepare to do the muting on the other machine. Releasing function and pressing another button to mute a track on another box works pretty well.
This preselecting of track mutes also works on other Elektrons btw. (On the A4 you have to go to performance mute page, tap performance again when you’re on the performance screen, on the Octatrack you have to open the mixer), so you could also prepare all your mutes and then release function on both machines.

Under midi config is the ‘mute dest’ option, never tried it, but sounds like it could be worth checking out.
MUTE DEST controls whether track mute/unmute will send MIDI CC/NRPN messages or not. When set to INT, no MIDI data will be sent. When set to INT + EXT, messages will be sent internally as well as externally. When set to EXT, messages will only be sent externally.
If both machines don’t use the same midi cc, it can be remapped with a midi processor…
Edit, oh, somehow missed this was already posted. Sry.

Do the midi b/out thru merge whatever the input is or is it a straight thru?
