Mute incoming audio w/Master Track possible?

Hi, there!

I use a Mackie 1202 which has mute buttons that double up routing audio to the alternate 3/4 output bus. I have this routed to my Octatrack which means when I press mute on my mixer, it sends that channel to the OT’s A-B inputs.

Problem is when I have a master track, I get audio whether I like it or not.

I’m using the 2 sends on each channel to route audio back to my computer. Perhaps I could swap the two and use the sends for the OT instead. But out of curiousity is there no way to disable audio playing through the OT when there’s a master track? I have already set “DIR” to 0.

Cheers,

If you’ve turned Dir on the OT’s mixer to 0 & are not using a Thru track then you shouldn’t hear any audio passing thru the OT.
If you are, have you perhaps enabled a Scene that is overriding your settings?

Yep - above. I use a Mackie board as well, and this same “mute” scheme to bus whatever’s on the board to my OT in AB. I get no sound unless I either turn up the DIR or assign a track to THRU and trig audio to come through.

I restarted the OT (after frantically checking to make sure I saved everything) and now it’s working properly.

If memory serves, when you’ve had a thru track assigned & triggered, if you then change that track to say a flex but don’t place a trigger, it will remain active as a thru machine until you do or indeed reboot the OT. I’m guessing this is what has happened in your case?
