Mute digitone tracks from octatrack?

Hey all,

I swear I’ve done this before but I can’t for the life of me figure out how. My goal is that when I’m in mixer mode on the octatrack, that I can mute individual tracks on the digitone by muting midi track 1-4.

In my current setup, the octa sends clock and program change, I have the octa’s audio tracks set to midi off, and the midi tracks are 1-8. I’m using the digitone’s sequencer to sequence itself. I have the digitone mute dst set to int+ext.

The MIDI track mute buttons on Octatrack can transmit (and respond to) the CC messages here

On Digitone, track mute is CC 94 on the assigned MIDI channel. So you’ve got a gap: you need to turn your 112, 113, 114 and 115 messages into CC 94. If you have a device in the middle for midi processing (for eg. MIDIHub) you could set up this mapping pretty straightforwardly. But otherwise, I don’t think it will be possible to do this directly from Octatrack track mutes.

Your other option is to sequence the Digitone on the Octatrack instead, then muting that MIDI track = muting the Digitone, but that might not work for you if you want to use the Digitone’s sequencer.

Ok I tried with a midi monitor. OT is definitely weird but in that case it can be useful : You can toggle between CC94=0 and CC94=1 with one track. But you need a second track. Trigless trig with CC94=0 on track 1 Trigless trig with CC94=1 on track 2 Mute / unmute track 1, it will toggle between CC94=0 and CC94=1 instantly, if track 2 is unmuted. hey there, I used the midi processor called “midihub” from blokas. Works perfectly fine.

Now the problem is: when I mute the tracks using func+mute (to mute multiple tracks at the same time), nothing happens on the DT. I used max MSP to see what is happening, and it seems like OT is not sending any CC messages at all when using function button. The joke is that this works perfectly fine with audio tracks, just not the midi tracks. Which are the ones I need of course.

Is it also the case with OTMKII ?

I am using the OT to control DN and it acts “natively” as expected, i just mute tracks from OT in tracks mode and it works. I don’t need no Midi processor.

I think your problem is solvable within the DN Midi settings.

sorry but what is it that you call DN ? If it’s the Digitone, I’m pretty sure changing midi settings in the Digitone won’t make my OT send CC messages when I’m using the func+mute feature on the midi tracks of the octatrack !
